BOKUUNIVERSITYThe Department of Water, Landscape and lnfrastructure, Institute of Hydraulic Engineeringand River Research is currently seeking a 1 Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in ohne Doktorat (Reference code 170)Extent of employment: 40 hours per weekDuration of employment: 1st of October 2026, limited to 30th of September 2029Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group:B1 lit. bGross monthly salary: (depending on previous eligible experience) at least: € 5.014,30(payable 14 times per year)Responsibilitiesº Develop data-driven and physics-informed models to upscale experimentallymeasured micro- and nanoplastic emissions toward regional and global predictionsº Connect laboratory observations with environmental forcing parametersº lntegrate emission parameterizations into atmospheric transport modelsº Perform statistical analysis and predictive modellingº Synthesize large experimental and environmental datasets to constrain marine plasticemission fluxes und er realistic ocean conditionsº Develop and apply approaches for upscaling laboratory measurements to regional andglobal emission estimatesº Work closely with experimentalists and atmospheric modelling teams across theAERIAL consortiumº Contribute to the development and evaluation of model parameterizationsº Disseminate research results through scientific publications and scientific meetingsRequired skills and qualificationsº Doctorate degree/PhD preferably in environmental modelling, turbulence, geophysicalflows, atmospheric sciences, data science, machine learning, applied mathematics ora related fieldº Language skills: Excellent written and spoken Englishº Strong background in one or more of the above fieldsº Experience with scientific programming and large-scale data analysisº Experience with statistical analysis and predictive modellingº Strong quantitative and analytical skillsDesirable skills and qualificationsº Experience with physics-informed modelling or machine learningº Experience with atmospheric transport modellingº Experience working with large experimental and environmental datasetsº Knowledge of marine or atmospheric processes relevant to plastic transport andemissionsº Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary research teamº Willingness to travel for national and international conferences and workshopsApplications can be submitted until: 22nd of September 2026University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna seeks to increase the number of itsfemale faculty and staff members.
