E-course on Europass for Guidance Counsellors

Europass, with its wide set of online tools and information to help its users in their lifelong learning and career management, provides interesting possibilities not only for its end-users, but also for guidance and career counseling. To aid guidance and career counseling professionals in using Europass, the Euroguidance network has developed a free e-Course on Europass for Career Guidance”, an updated version of which has been published in early June 2025. The e-Course presents the main features of Europass in a simple and comprehensive way, showing how these features can be used to counsel different groups of users, tailored to their own specific needs.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for guidance practitioners working in a variety of settings – such as primary and secondary schools, vocational education and training (VET), higher education, and employment services – who want to strengthen their guidance skills and learn how to effectively use Europass as a guidance tool.

It is ideal for anyone who supports individuals in identifying and showcasing their competences. This includes teachers, youth educators, school leaders, and professionals who work directly with students, jobseekers, or clients in career development.

What will you learn?

The course provides a comprehensive introduction to Europass, including an overview of how it can be used in different contexts – such as planning career or education pathways, showcasing skills and qualifications, and exploring job or learning opportunities across Europe.

You will find step-by-step guidance on how to use the features of the Europass platform, along with practical, technical instructions.

The course concludes with a section on “How to Use Europass with Clients”, offering practical advice on tailoring the use of Europass tools to different target groups – such as job applicants, pupils, students, educational institutions, or employers.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the various purposes and uses of Europass
  • Identify and explain the different Europass tools and their functions
  • Create your own Europass profile, CV, and cover letter, and explore relevant learning and job opportunities
  • Advise a range of client groups on how to use Europass tools that suit their needs
  • Support clients in building their personal Europass profile, CV, and cover letter as needed

How to participate?

The course is hosted on the Euroguidance France online platform and is designed as a self-paced, self-directed learning experience. It combines a variety of learning materials, including texts, videos, practical resources, quizzes, and visual content.

Currently available in English, the course will soon be offered in additional languages: Croatian, German, French, Hungarian, and Slovenian.
