Open invitation to stakeholders in the European digital credentials market

Today, the Europass Digital Credentials team launches a series of meetings with all European digital credentials market stakeholders over the coming months to discuss interoperability, standardisation, and legal validity of digitally-signed credentials.

The meetings will aim to reduce the current fragmentation of the digital credential market and enable EU citizens to have their digital credentials read, displayed and stored in various public and private platforms.

The Europass team will discuss integrating Europass Digital Credentials into stakeholders’ digital ecosystem. Launched on the 1st of July 2020, as an integral part of the new Europass, the Europass Digital Credentials are the single European approach to digital credentialing. They are set to become the main standard for digital credentials in the European Education Area.

By integrating Europass Digital Credentials, stakeholders of the European digital credential market will be able to:

  • issue Europass-format credentials to students as a result of their achievements;

  • allow credential-holders to store and share Europass digital credentials;

  • accept Europass Digital Credentials within admission, enrolment or recruitment processes.

Those meetings are an essential step in the Commission’s goals of facilitating recognition of skills and qualifications throughout Europe and harnessing digital credentials’ benefits to reduce administrative burden, combat credential fraud, and move toward a paperless workflow.

The meetings are open to any interested stakeholder and targeted at credential issuers, software companies designing student information systems, learning management systems, e-portfolios or human resource management systems

Please register your interest in a meeting by contacting the Europass Digital Credentials support team.
