Open PhD projects
Quantum technologies are rapidly advancing, with demonstrated quantum advantage in computing, communication, and sensing. However, to unlock their full potential, fundamental challenges remain - particularly in scaling quantum systems, improving error tolerance, and achieving quantum control in practical settings. These PhD projects focus on developing continuous-variable (CV) quantum technologies that operate in the macroscopic domain, paving the way for next-generation quantum information processing.

Continuous-variable quantum information processing

  • Generation of exotic quantum states of light for fault-tolerant quantum information using cavity QED systems
  • Quantum computing, leveraging CV cluster states for fault-tolerant quantum processing,
  • Extreme quantum sensing, surpassing classical precision limits for metrology and imaging,
  • Fundamental tests of quantum mechanics, exploring macroscopic quantum phenomena.

Continuous-variable quantum opto-mechanics
Explore quantum control of acoustic and vibrational modes in pristine crystals and micromechanical oscillators using continuous-variable quantum techniques to:

  • Prepare non-classical states of mechanical modes, pushing macroscopic quantum physics forward,
  • Develop low-loss CV detection schemes for high-fidelity quantum measurements,
  • Implement CV quantum protocols for quantum-limited force and motion sensing.

Talent Acquisition & People Operations Manager
NO ISOLATION AS
Norway, OSLO

People & Organization | Oslo, London, Munich or remote within Europe

No Isolation is an award-winning EdTech scale-up on a global mission to help educators bring learning and belonging to every child. As we continue to scale, hiring the right people and running structured, reliable People processes are business-critical.

We are now looking for a Talent Acquisition & People Operations Manager to strengthen both. The scope of the role is split between proactive Talent Acquisition and operational People responsibilities and may flex based on business priorities.

This is a high-impact execution role. You will actively drive sourcing for demanding and hard-to-fill roles while ensuring structured, compliant and efficient People Operations that support performance, scalability and our ability to deliver on our mission.

The role supports recruitment and People Operations across our European entities and EoR employees. You will report to the Chief People & Organizational Officer.

The impact you’ll have

You will:

  • Proactively identify, approach and engage strong candidates for priority and hard-to-fill roles

  • Build and nurture high-quality talent pipelines

  • Ensure structured, efficient and professional recruitment processes

  • Maintain reliable and compliant People Operations across the employee lifecycle

  • Contribute to structured workforce insights and continuous process improvement

You will continuously improve our sourcing and People workflows by leveraging AI and modern HR tech to automate the repetitive stuff, freeing you up to focus on engaging with high-calibre candidates, and employee engagement.

This role sits at the intersection of growth and operational discipline. Your work will directly influence hiring quality, execution capacity and long-term scalability.

What you’ll work on

Talent Acquisition

You will play an active role in strengthening our sourcing capability and pipeline quality to attract and engage high-caliber talent.

You will conduct structured talent mapping and market research, identify and engage passive candidates through proactive outreach, and build strong pipelines for demanding roles. You will contribute to screening and candidate assessment when relevant, ensure disciplined use of our ATS and workflows, and continuously improve sourcing tools and efficiency.

We are particularly interested in candidates who truly enjoy outbound sourcing and are motivated by finding and engaging high-quality talent in competitive markets. You take pride in raising the bar on talent quality.

People Operations

You will play a key role in ensuring structured, reliable and compliant People Operations across the organization. This includes maintaining accurate employment documentation, supporting employee relations matters and ensuring our HR systems and processes function effectively in daily operations.

You will coordinate key employee lifecycle processes, from onboarding to role changes, parental leave and offboarding, ensuring a consistent and positive experience at every stage.

You will provide operational HR support across the organization and contribute to continuous improvement of our People processes.

In addition, you will help maintain visibility into workforce data and engagement through pulse surveys, People KPIs and structured reporting, contributing to a strong company culture aligned with our Guiding Principles.

We believe you bring...

  • Experience: 3–5 years in Talent Acquisition and/or People Operations, ideally within a fast-growing international scale-up

  • Sourcing DNA: A proven track record of finding and engaging high-caliber talent for demanding or hard-to-fill roles. You genuinely enjoy the "hunt."

  • Operational grip: A solid understanding of the employee lifecycle, from structured onboarding to compliant offboarding, including exposure to labor law (preferred) and employee relations

  • Tech-forward mindset: You are naturally curious and tech-savvy. You proactively use AI and automation to "automate the boring stuff," improve efficiency, and work smarter and faster

  • Business Acumen: The ability to prioritize your workload based on business impact

  • Growth mindset: You actively seek feedback, take initiative to improve your skills, and see challenges as opportunities to learn and raise the bar.

As a person, you are structured, resilient, and self-driven. You thrive in environments where disciplined execution is the key to performance, and you are comfortable navigating the healthy "chaos" of a scaling company.

What we offer

  • Real impact on a mission that matters. Your work directly strengthens our ability to scale and deliver on our mission of bringing learning and belonging to every child. You will play a key role in building strong teams and ensuring structured, efficient People Operations in a growing international scale-up

  • Learning & development in a growing scale-up. Growth creates constant new challenges and opportunities. You will continuously develop your capabilities across international People Operations, demanding sourcing, and process improvement

  • High-performance, high-support. You’ll join 60+ driven and highly-skilled colleagues from 20 nationalities in a "high-challenge, high-support" environment. We set the bar high and celebrate wins, but we also prioritize a fun, collaborative atmosphere where people genuinely enjoy working together

  • Trust-based leadership. We start from a place of trust. You’ll have ownership and accountability of your responsibilities and the space to drive your work, with the support and mentorship needed to grow
