Helg-medlever søkes – bli BPA-assistent for aktiv 17-åring
BPA NORD AS AVD LYNGEN
Norway, LYNGSEIDET

Hvem passer jobben for?

Kvalifikasjoner:

  • Personlig kjemi og egnethet betyr mest for meg
  • Førerkort klasse B (gjerne også BE)
  • Du må kunne norsk godt
  • Du må være minst 18 år

På grunn av stillingens art, ønsker vi helst mannlige søkere.

Mye mer enn bare penger

PhD Research Fellow in Science and Technology Studies (STS)
UNIVERSITETET I OSLO SENTRALADMINISTRASJON
Norway, OSLO

About the position

The Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture (TIK) at the University of Oslo (UiO) invites applications for a 3-year PhD Fellowship (position code 1017). The position is affiliated with the research project APPROPRIATE – Licences to appropriate land for societal ends, funded by the Research Council of Norway. The PhD candidate will be based at the TIK Centre and affiliated with the TIK Centre’s STS research group.

The position encompasses possibilities for teaching tasks within TIK’s teaching programs, including supervision of candidates and students within these programs, according to the TIK Centre’s needs and the candidate’s profile or interests. If such tasks are agreed upon, the contract will be extended accordingly.

About the project

APPROPRIATE - Licences to appropriate land for societal ends

The licensing system is a key arrangement in Norwegian environmental policy and is both a tool of democracy and a tool for the appropriation of land and natural resources for societal and economic ends. The goal of the APPROPRIATE project is to investigate the licensing system: how different valuation practices play out in planning and decisions making processes, how economic reasoning and other forms of expertise are taken into account, and how dilemmas and conflicts in processes towards accomplishing good licensing procedures are negotiated and handled.  The licensing system will be analyzed with a point of departure in the contemporary situation, but will also study the licensing arrangement in its broader historical, political and economic context.

APPROPRIATE will focus on two empirical cases in particular: aquaculture and wind power. The PhD position is dedicated to the case of wind power. APPROPRIATE will work as a tight team where the PI will work with the project members on all the WPs, yet with clear distribution and responsibility of tasks. In addition to the PI and the PhD candidate, the project is in the process of employing one postdoctoral fellow.

More about the position

The PhD candidate will have as their core task WP2 on the case of wind power. The key research questions of this project are: (1) How do licenses value the nature they set out to appropriate for societal ends? (2) How do economic reasoning and reasoning around the conditions of nature encounter and become weighed and valued against one another in licensing practices? (3) What are the economic and philosophical reasoning through which the licensing system is based and (4) how do this act upon the license-regime? In addition this WP will investigate how ‘license-workers’ in their day to day practice, that is bureaucrats, make judgments with regards to the conditions for appropriation and the granting of licenses.

A more detailed description of the overall project and its theoretical foundations and methods can be retrieved by the PI, together with a more detailed outline of the work package on wind power. This will guide the applicants in developing their project proposal.

The PhD candidate will be collaborating closely with the PI and postdoctor, including on other elements of the project proposal, such as workshops and dissemination activities. The project will also be conducted in exchanges with an international board of experts.

The main purpose of the PhD position is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. To this end, the main focus of this position is to conduct research, including publication and dissemination. In addition, the fellow is expected to actively contribute to the broader research agenda and academic environment of the APPROPRIATE project.

The PhD candidate must take part in the Faculty of Social Sciences’ approved PhD program (TIK track) and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. For more information, please see the Faculty of Social Sciences’ web site.

 Selection criteria

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a 2 year Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant areas of STS or other relevant social sciences or humanities, and meet the formal requirements for admittance to the Faculty of Social Sciences’ PhD program.
  • The Master’s degree must be of high quality (grade A or B)
  • Fluency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian knowledge as this is necessary for working with the empirical material upon which APPROPRIATE builds
  • A project description of high academic quality that describes how its research plan will contribute to the relevant WP and the overall project.
  • Documented experience with empirical research and the handling of empirical data.
  • Good cooperation skills

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior knowledge of the empirical subject area is an advantage
  • Documented experience with document analysis and interviews is an advantage.
  • Documented experience and interest in employing and advancing STS theory such as valuation studies and/or social studies of markets is an advantage.

The successful candidate is expected to take active part in activities like seminars and workshops at TIK. Residency in or close to Oslo is therefore expected.

Assessment

The evaluation of the candidates will be based on a comprehensive assessment of all qualifications - required as well as preferred - applicable to the position, including personal qualifications. The best qualified candidates will be invited for interviews.

The final hiring decision is the responsibility of the centre’s board and will be based on an evaluation of the overall qualifications of the shortlisted candidates as well as the centre’s needs.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Trustworthy GenAI-assisted Software Engineering
HØGSKULEN PÅ VESTLANDET BERGEN - INNDALSVEIEN 28
Norway, BERGEN

The Department of Computer science, Electrical engineering and Mathematical sciences at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) has an open position as a post-doctoral researcher within trustworthy GenAI-assisted software engineering.

The position is for a period of up to 3 years and associated with the strategically funded TERSE project.

Workplace is campus Bergen.

Project and duties of the position
The TERSE project aims to develop actionable methods, guidelines and software tools for enhancing
software engineering with the application of GenAI; and to explore how profession-oriented education and
curricula in software engineering should be transformed in light the emerging GenAI era. A central element
of the project is collaboration with industry, public sector institutions and international partners aimed to
investigate the real-world effects of GenAI in software engineering.

Software technology and engineering are key enablers in the ongoing digital transformation of society.
GenAI has emerged as a disruptive technology not only within a multitude of sectors profoundly impacting
the way we will work in the future, but also within the profession of software engineering itself where code
is increasingly being automatically produced by GenAI-based coding co-pilots and agents. Considering the
pivotal and increasingly critical role of software in society, the prospect of such a disruptive change raises
fundamental questions on the feasibility and risks associated with the application of GenAI, and on how the
future profession of software engineers will change.

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with the four work package leaders of the TERSE project on
coordinated industry collaboration enabling longitudinal and empirical studies of GenAI, and on developing
and evaluating methods and software technology to detect, prevent, and mitigate faults in GenAI-generated
software. Key research questions to be addressed include: what measurable productivity and software
quality effects occur when applying GenAI in software engineering processes; how to develop and apply
software engineering tools which make AI-assisted development dependable; what are best practices and
methodology for trustworthy application of GenAI-based software tools and technology; and how to
integrate GenAI in software engineering education.

Research environment

The postdoctoral researcher will be a key researcher in the TERSE project and part of the software engineering research group at HVL https://www.hvl.no/en/research/group/software-engineering/ . The  research group currently include 10 professors and associate professors, 12 postdoctoral  researchers and PhD candidates, and a large number of master students in software engineering and
in applied computer science. The software engineering research group is conducting high-quality  research presented at international venues, and has broad scientific expertise including empirical  software engineering, model- based software engineering, and formal methods for software  engineering. The research group has a strong track record of externally funded projects with  national and international industry and with academic partners. This includes projects within cloud  computing and services, internet-of-things, business process modelling, AI, machine learning,  collaborative systems, and security spanning domains such as healthcare services, marine  environments, robotics, industrial automation and emergency work. The postdoctoral research fellow will be provided with work expense funding that can be used forconference participation, travel and research visits, and equipment. The place of employment is
Campus Bergen.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must have earned a PhD degree in informatics/computer science/software engineering or have submitted the PhD thesis before the application deadline. The PhD must have been awarded before the candidate can be offered the position. The scientific profile of qualified candidates must be within software engineering, and preferably include the application of generative AI and machine learning in software engineering or software engineering for AI. In addition to the required educational background and scientific profile, the following criteria will be assessed in the ranking of qualified candidates:

  • Quality and relevance of the PhD thesis
  • Publication and project acquisition track record, quality and relevance of publications
  • Practical software engineering skills, including experience with generative AI in software development or the engineering of software for AI solutions

  • A CV, including publication list,
  • Up to five selected publications
  • Copies of educational certificates, transcript of academic records
  • Names and contact details of 2-3 references (name, relation to candidate, e-mail and telephone number)

Applicants will in addition be assessed in relation to their prospective starting date.

Short-listed candidates might be required to give a research presentation, in addition to an interview. If the documents submitted are not in English or in a Scandinavian language, the applicants must submit the corresponding certified translations.
