The Tax Expert - Operations for Investment Funds will act as the key coordinator and subject matter expert for all tax-related operational activities within the organization. This role involves ensuring that any tax changes (FATCA, CRS, VAT, withholding tax, etc.) are identified, communicated, and implemented effectively in collaboration with the operational teams responsible for tax deliverables. The Tax Expert will work closely with the Tax Group team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to allocate changes with clear implementation targets and timelines.
Your role
Tax Change Coordination and Implementation
• Act as the primary point of contact for operational teams regarding tax changes (FATCA, CRS, VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
• Review and analyze tax-related updates and regulatory changes received from the Tax Group team.
• Ensure all tax changes are identified, documented, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Allocate changes to the appropriate operational teams with clear implementation targets and deadlines.
• Monitor the implementation of tax changes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Operational Oversight and Support
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure tax deliverables are accurate, timely, and compliant with applicable regulations.
• Provide guidance and support to operational teams on tax-related matters, including process improvements and issue resolution.
• Develop and maintain a framework for tracking and reporting the status of tax-related changes and deliverables.
• Ensure that all tax-related processes are documented and updated to reflect regulatory changes.
Risk Management and Compliance
• Identify potential risks related to tax compliance and propose mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that all tax processes comply with local and international regulations, including FATCA, CRS, VAT, and withholding tax requirements.
• Support internal and external audits related to tax compliance and operational processes.
Stakeholder Communication and Training
• Act as a liaison between the Tax Group team and operational teams to ensure alignment on tax-related matters.
• Provide training and updates to operational teams on new tax regulations and their impact on processes.
• Prepare and present regular reports to management on the status of tax compliance and implementation of changes.
Your profile
Educational Background:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent are a strong advantage.
Professional Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax operations, preferably within the investment funds or financial services industry.
• Strong knowledge of FATCA, CRS, VAT, and withholding tax regulations.
• Experience in coordinating tax-related projects and working with cross-functional teams.
Specific Knowledge and Skills:
• In-depth understanding of tax regulations applicable to investment funds and financial services.
• Familiarity with operational processes related to tax reporting and compliance.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax regulations and translate them into operational requirements.
• Proficiency in tax reporting tools and systems, as well as advanced knowledge of Excel.
Language Skills:
• Fluency in English and French is mandatory (both written and spoken).
Personal Qualities:
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
