Chief Defence Liaison Officer (CDLO) North Defence SARL – Luxembourg / United Kingdom
Position Summary
North Defence S.a.r.l. is seeking an experienced and highly respected defence professional to serve as Chief Defence Liaison Officer (CDLO).
The CDLO will act as a senior advisor to the CEO and leadership team, providing strategic guidance, leadership mentoring and defence-sector insight gained through extensive military and leadership experience. The role is not responsible for the day-to-day management of the business and carries no direct line management responsibility for operational or commercial teams.
The primary purpose of the position is to strengthen communication and collaboration between North Defence's Luxembourg and UK operations, support the development of emerging leaders within the organisation, and facilitate engagement with senior military stakeholders and defence decision-makers.
The successful candidate will leverage their professional network, leadership experience and understanding of defence organisations to help strengthen North Defence's strategic relationships and market presence.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Advisory and Leadership Support
• Provide independent advice and guidance to the CEO and senior leadership team on leadership, organisational development and defence-sector matters.
• Share leadership experience and best practices to support the development of managers and future leaders within the company.
• Act as a trusted mentor and sounding board for members of the leadership team.
• Contribute strategic insight to support the company's long-term growth and development.
Defence Liaison and Relationship Building
• Facilitate introductions and engagement opportunities with senior military leaders, defence organisations and key stakeholders within the United Kingdom and other relevant markets.
• Support the development and maintenance of strategic relationships across the defence community.
• Provide insight into military structures, stakeholder priorities and defence engagement approaches.
• Represent North Defence at selected defence exhibitions, conferences and industry events.
Cross-Border Communication and Cultural Alignment
• Promote effective communication and collaboration between North Defence's Luxembourg and UK teams.
• Support the sharing of knowledge, experience and best practice across the organisation.
• Help strengthen cultural understanding and alignment between different parts of the business.
• Encourage collaborative working relationships across functions and geographies.
Business Development Support
• Provide defence-sector insight and stakeholder intelligence to support business development activities.
• Assist the CEO and commercial teams by identifying relationship opportunities and facilitating introductions where appropriate.
• Support customer engagement activities through the provision of military context and credibility.
Qualifications and Experience
• Extensive senior military leadership experience, ideally gained through command, operational or senior staff appointments.
• Well-established professional network within defence organisations and military leadership circles.
• Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with senior military, government and industry stakeholders.
• Strong mentoring, coaching and leadership-development capabilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-management skills.
• Experience operating within multinational or international environments.
• High levels of professionalism, discretion and personal credibility.
• Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken.

We are seeking a highly respected former military leader who can bring experience, judgement and trusted relationships to North Defence. The successful candidate will act as a senior ambassador for the company, helping develop future leaders, strengthen collaboration between Luxembourg and UK operations and support strategic engagement with key defence stakeholders. This role is focused on influence, guidance and relationship-building rather than operational management.
