Are you a technically curious problem‑solver who enjoys operating complex systems together with a skilled team? Bulk Infrastructure is expanding our N01 campus and to support this growth we are hiring Operations Engineers across different disciplines and seniority levels. You will be part of the team that keeps our electrical, mechanical, cooling and automation systems running safely and reliably, every day.

At Bulk, our mission is to build sustainable infrastructure that supports the digital society of tomorrow. What you’ll do:

You will be part of a multidisciplinary operations team responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of electrical, mechanical, cooling and supporting systems across the N01 campus. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Operating and monitoring critical infrastructure systems such as electrical distribution, mechanical systems, cooling and HVAC, and other data centre technologies

  • Responding to alarms, deviations and operational incidents, and supporting troubleshooting activities

  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance in line with procedures and work instructions

  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and sharing best practices across the site team

  • The role is currently daytime-based, but may transition into a shift arrangement in the future as operations grow.

Who are you?
You are organized, communicate clearly, and work well with others. You think critically, solve problems efficiently, and take initiative when needed. Above all, you prioritize safety and take responsibility for maintaining a secure, reliable environment.

What you bring:

  • Relevant technical or vocational education, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, HVAC and cooling, mechatronics, industrial mechanics or a related technical field

  • Hands‑on experience from technical operations, facilities management or industrial environments

  • A strong HSE mindset and commitment to safe operations.

  • The ability to document your work, follow procedures and support risk assessments and safe work processes

  • Experience using monitoring tools such as BMS, or a willingness to learn these systems as part of your role

  • Good communication skills in English, with Scandinavian languages as an advantage

It is beneficial if you also have:

• Experience coordinating contractors or supporting maintenance activities

• Experience from critical or complex technical environments, such as data centres, energy facilities, offshore, maritime or industries operating around the clock.

Do not let a few unmet requirements hold you back from applying. If you have a unique background and believe you can make a valuable contribution to the team, we would love to hear from you.

What we offer our Bulkies:

  • A dynamic, growth-oriented workplace with a strong sustainability focus

  • Comprehensive insurance (health, travel – business & private) and annual health check

PhD Research Fellow-Continuous Experience Recognition for Distributed Co-creative Immersive Systems
UNIVERSITETET I OSLO SENTRALADMINISTRASJON
Norway, OSLO

About the position

We invite applications for a PhD Research Fellow position in Continuous Experience Recognition for Distributed Co-Creative Immersive Systems, available at the Department of Informatics as a member of the MishMash Centre for AI and Creativity.

Starting date no later than February 2, 2027.

The fellowship period is three years.

Depending on the candidate and the teaching needs of the department, the fellowship period can be extended either for compulsory work consisting of e.g. teaching and supervision duties and research assistance up top 12 months.

No one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo.

Job description

The position is part of MishMash Centre for AI and Creativity, which is a Norwegian AI centre funded by the Research Council of Norway (2025-2030). It comprises more than 200 faculty members from many higher education institutions in Norway, in collaboration with numerous public and private sector partners. The primary objective of MishMash is to create, explore, and reflect on AI for, through, and in creative practices. MishMash researchers will develop innovative CoCreative AI systems, investigate AI’s impact on creative processes, educational strategies, and address AI’s ethical, cultural, legal, and societal implications in creative domains. See mishmash.no for more information. In addition, this PhD candidate will be able to participate and exploit synergies with the RCN-funded DRIVE project on brain-driven multi-sensory robotic avatars for remote collaborative physical work.

The PhD fellowship position is located at the University of Oslo’s Department of Informatics (IFI) and is hosted by the Network and Distributed Systems Research Group (ND) with co-supervision from IFI’s Machine Learning section and the University of Inland Norway’s research group for User Perception and Engagement in XR Experiences. ND conducts research in networks and distributed systems of all scales, multimedia and AR/VR/XR systems, robotics and machine learning, advancing general and fundamental scientific knowledge driven by specific applications.

The successful candidate will join ND’s the Sustainable Immersive Networking Lab (SINLAB), a multidisciplinary team working on systems that enable users to become immersed in remote physical environments, observe them, move in them, and physically act in them, and experience the effects of their actions through multimodal feedback (audio, video, haptics). SINLAB conducts holistic research on distributed, real-time interactive and immersive systems, in particular on enabling a first-person presence in remote, augmented and virtual spaces. We work on overcoming the challenges of limited temporal and spatial accuracy of such remote interactions. We pay particular attention to the exploration of potential and limitations arising from the use of AI-based methods in predictive feedback.

The successful candidate will:

  • explore how a combination of multimodal observation (audio, video, LIDAR, thermal vision) and physiological measurements (motion tracking, eye tracking, EMG, BCI, EDA, HRV) can be used to continuously assess the human experience of interaction quality, and
  • how this assessment can be fed back into the AI-based predictor to tune its behaviour in real-time for a highly personalized and context-dependent experience.

This research will be conducted in collaboration with partners of the MishMash center. Specific applications in which the candidate will explore are (1) multimodal first-person presence in a remote environment through a robot, and (2) the co-creative collaboration between an embodied AI and one or more human musicians. Additionally, applicability to situational awareness and high-level control in control centers will be considered.

Building on the combined strengths of each of these research environments, NORCIE will provide core international economics, geo-economics, geopolitical, and international relations insights – combining heterodox methodologies spanning across the social sciences. You can read more about NORCIE here: The Norwegian Centre for International Economics (NORCIE) - ARENA Centre for European Studies

More about the position

As a post-doctoral fellow, you will be working on the NORCIE project alongside Professors Craig Parsons and Bent Sofus Tranøy at ARENA, as well as partners in the project at the Department of Economics, UiO, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), and the Peace Research Institute Oslo. You will be expected to both assist with research tasks designed by the project leaders and to develop and implement your own research in related areas. The position is announced within the overall thematic focus of the NORCIE project, with a particular emphasis on NORCIE’s research regarding the evolving EU economic order. Given NORCIE’s mission to inform Norwegian policy discussions, it is desirable that candidates have an interest in issues of relevance to Norway.

The selected candidate should have research experience and interests that connect to some of the ARENA-led components of NORCIE.

The largest part of ARENA’s involvement in NORCIE will be related to studying the evolving EU economic order. The concept of rules-based openness has always been at the core of EU economic principles, but major pressures are pushing the EU to develop more active and discretionary capabilities. We will study these processes of change from both inside the EU (with interview research on the EU’s evolving policies regarding tradable goods, financial services, and information technology) and in the EU’s key external relationships (researching the related policies of the US, China, Russia, India and Brazil and their consequences for interactions with the EU).

Other and more specific areas of ARENA’s involvement in NORCIE will cover:

  • Interactions of EU environmental policies and trade. In partnership with economists at the UiO Department of Economics, ARENA will study the politics of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and related issues, including interviews with firms, interest groups public officials at national and EU levels, with a focus on energy-intensive manufacturing sectors.
  • Energy firms and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rules and norms. In partnership with economists at CMI, ARENA will study how large EU- and US-based companies in the energy sector (including fossil fuels and renewables) relate to ESG considerations. This work will include interviews with decision-makers at each step in firms’ supply chains and in sectoral associations as well as wider data on stakeholder attitudes.

You are welcome to get in contact with project leader and Research Professor Craig Parsons at ARENA, or Centre Director Pernille Rieker, if you have questions regarding your research interests’ potential fit with NORCIE’s research agenda.

The appointment is a full-time position for the duration of three years, with no teaching obligations.

The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their discipline.

The proposed starting date for the position is as soon as possible. You will be provided with office space, equipment, and services as well as necessary resources for research related field work and conference travel.

As a post-doctoral fellow, you will have your base at ARENA Centre for European Studies. You will be expected to be present in Oslo and to participate in ongoing activities at ARENA and NORCIE.
