Take the next step in your research career at the intersection of digital twins, multi-timescale system optimization, and integrated Power-to-X systems with special focus on the electrical engineering parts. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive the development of system-level digital-twin and optimization methodologies—integrating electrolyzer models with renewable generation, power electronic conversion, energy and hydrogen storage, downstream processes, and energy demand—to enable more efficient, flexible, and economically viable Power-to-X operation. This position is expected to start from 1st of November 2026 or as soon as possible hereafter.
About the project
The position is affiliated with the Pioneer Center for Accelerating P2X Materials Discovery (CAPeX) and the section for Applied Power Electronic Systems. You will join an interdisciplinary team working across electrolyzers, Power-to-X systems, power electronics, control, digital twins, and energy-system optimization, in close collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), University of Toronto, Stanford University, and Utrecht University — research visits to partner facilities may form part of the position.
Your work tasks
This two-year postdoctoral project focuses on the system-level integration and optimization of electrolyzer digital twins within CAPeX — considering how component-level electrolyzer models and digital twins can be incorporated into broader Power-to-X systems involving renewable generation, power conversion, power system integration, energy and hydrogen storage, downstream processes, and energy demand. In particular, you will:
- Develop an integrated, system-level digital-twin framework connecting electrolyzer models with relevant Power-to-X components and energy-systema.
- Develop system-level optimization and energy-management methods for coordinating electrolyzers with renewable generation, power conversion, storage, downstream processes, and hydrogen demand.
- Apply and evaluate these methods under technical constraints and varying renewable generation, electricity prices, and hydrogen demand, considering system efficiency, flexibility, production, and operating costs.
- Validate and benchmark the developed framework using project data, high-fidelity simulations including hardware in the loop, and relevant industrial case studies, assessing its robustness and computational performance.
- Collaborate with researchers and industrial partners, contribute to the coordination and supervision of related research activities, and disseminate results through scientific publications, conferences, and project deliverables.
The position may also include a limited amount of teaching and supervision of bachelor's and master's students in areas related to your expertise.
Your competencies
We expect you to have:
- A PhD in electrical engineering, energy engineering, mechanical engineering, control engineering, operations research, applied mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Documented experience in energy-system modelling, mathematical optimization, control, digital twins, or related areas.
- Strong programming and numerical modelling skills using Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, hardware in the loop implementation or comparable tools.
- Experience with one or more relevant methods, such as multi-objective optimization, model predictive control, mixed-integer optimization, stochastic optimization, energy management, or production scheduling.
- Good knowledge of integrated energy systems; experience with electrolyzers, hydrogen technologies, renewable-energy integration, storage, or Power-to-X systems would be an advantage.
- A strong scientific publication record appropriate to your career stage.
- The ability to conduct independent research, collaborate across disciplines, and communicate effectively with academic and industrial partners.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
You are not expected to be a specialist in every electrolyzer technology or optimization method. Strong system-level modelling and optimization competence, together with the ability to work across component and system boundaries, is particularly important.

The team
A place where great ideas can come from anyone
Joining us means becoming part of a warm, ambitious, and genuinely collaborative Technology & Operations Team. We are a group that thrives on shared purpose, celebrates each other's wins, and is not afraid to roll up our sleeves when things get complex. Our work spans a broad range of initiatives that shape the organisation's digital backbone — but what truly defines us is how we do it: together.
On this application specifically, you will work day-to-day alongside our Business Application Manager, who coordinates prioritisation and the release process, and a small pool of external developers who provide specialist and overflow capacity. Together, you form the core development team — working closely with Product Owners, Super Users, and functional subject-matter experts from Investment, Risk, Valuation and Finance to keep the backlog moving and the platform improving.
You will be surrounded by talented colleagues who bring curiosity, professionalism, and a healthy sense of humour to the table. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are building a culture where learning is continuous and where you will have the space to influence how we work.
You develop and evolve our internal investment management application
Our internal Investment Management application is built on Microsoft Dataverse, Power Apps, and the Dynamics 365 platform (using only capabilities that do not require a Dynamics 365 Sales licence). It supports the full investment lifecycle — from lead and screening, through portfolio management and monitoring, to exit. Alongside this low-code foundation, an increasing share of the application is built as custom web applications — using JavaScript and Node.js — to deliver functionality that goes beyond what Power Apps supports out of the box.
We are looking for a Power Apps & Web Application Developer to take day-to-day technical ownership of the application's codebase and configuration and be the technical lead for the application and its growth over the coming years. You will work closely with our Business Application Manager and external developer resources as the core development team, turning a continuously prioritised backlog into reliable, well-built functionality for the business — spanning both the Power Platform and our custom web application components. You will take the lead on deciding when a requirement is best solved with low-code Power Apps versus custom web development, in dialogue with the Business Application Manager.
You will, for example:
Platform development: design, build, and maintain Power Apps (model-driven and canvas) and Dataverse solution components — tables, relationships, business rules, and automation — that underpin the application
Web application development: design, build, and maintain custom web applications and services using JavaScript and Node.js, extending the platform beyond native Power Apps capabilities and integrating tightly with Dataverse via APIs
Dynamics 365 configuration: configure and extend Dynamics 365 platform capabilities used within the application, strictly limited to functionality that does not require a Dynamics 365 Sales licence
Process automation: build Power Automate flows that automate approvals, notifications, and data flows between the application, our ERP, and other enterprise systems
Backlog delivery: work from the prioritised Kanban backlog together with the Business Application Manager, who owns the board and coordinates prioritisation and release
Requirements translation: engage directly with super users and functional SMEs across Investment, Risk, Valuation and Finance to understand needs and translate them into technical designs
Collaboration with external resources: coordinate day-to-day with external developers on shared backlog items, ensuring consistent quality, patterns, and documentation across the codebase
Testing and release: support structured testing cycles and releases, working with super users to validate functionality before it reaches the wider organisation
Production support: troubleshoot and resolve issues in the live application — both the Power Platform components and the custom web application layer — protecting data integrity and keeping the platform reliable for daily use
Documentation: maintain clear technical documentation of the data model, configurations, and customisations to support governance and knowledge transfer
You bring hands-on Power Platform and web development skills, and a collaborative mindset
With your background in Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and modern web development, you become invested in turning business requirements from investment, risk, valuation, or finance stakeholders into robust, well-structured solutions.
We imagine that you:
Technical foundation: have a relevant degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
Platform expertise: have solid hands-on experience developing with Microsoft Dataverse, Power Apps (model-driven and canvas), and Power Automate
Web development skills: have solid hands-on experience building web applications and services with JavaScript and Node.js, and are comfortable working across both front-end and back-end code
Dynamics 365 knowledge: understand Dynamics 365 as a platform, including entity modelling, business rules, and security roles
Collaborative delivery: are comfortable working from a shared, continuously prioritised backlog alongside a Business Application Manager and external developers
Communication: communicate clearly with both technical colleagues and non-technical business stakeholders across departments
Problem-solving: take a structured, hands-on approach to troubleshooting issues in a live, business-critical application
Have experience with plugin development (C#) or PCF component development on the Power Platform
Are familiar with Azure DevOps and ALM practices for Power Platform and web application deployment
Bonus points if you:
Have experience with modern JavaScript frameworks or libraries (such as React, Vue, or Express) for building web applications
Having domain knowledge from investment management, risk, valuation, or finance processes, is a plus
Have experience from the financial sector or an impact-focused organisation, is a plus
Our technology stack
Our current environment is built on Microsoft technology and continues to evolve, with a growing web application layer alongside it. As Power Apps & Web Application Developer, you will work with:
Microsoft Dataverse (our core data platform for this application)
Microsoft Power Apps (model-driven and canvas apps)
Microsoft Power Automate
JavaScript and Node.js for custom web application and API development
Dynamics 365 as a platform (excluding functionality requiring a Dynamics 365 Sales licence)
Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O), as an integrated neighbouring system
Azure DevOps for backlog, source control, and release management
Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, and more)
What we offer
An opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects with real social and environmental impact
A focused, hands-on role with real ownership of a growing, business-critical platform
A collaborative, value-driven, and international work environment
Opportunities for professional development, training, and continuous learning
A brand-new office with modern facilities close to Nordhavn Metro and S-Train station
