The Biomedical Data Science (BMDS) Lab investigates data-driven solutions for healthcare applications with a focus on neurological conditions such as spinal cord injury (SCI), lower back pain, neuro-degenerative disorders and neurological tumors. At the core of our research is the collaboration across disciplines spanning expertise in medicine, biology, computer and data science. We are seeking a scientific assistant to join this growing team and contribute to interdisciplinary research partnerships. The anticipated start date is March 1, 2026.
Traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) has profound and lifelong consequences for affected individuals and their families. A major challenge in predicting long-term recovery is the substantial heterogeneity in patient outcomes, which traditional clinical assessments might not fully capture. Standard neurological evaluations alone cannot reflect the underlying biological and functional diversity, limiting both prediction accuracy and the effectiveness of treatment strategies. This project aims to address this gap by integrating neurological assessments with neurophysiological measurements and routine blood biomarkers, leveraging advanced machine learning to combine these diverse data sources. By identifying the most informative clinical features, the approach seeks to provide more accurate and interpretable recovery predictions, supporting better patient stratification, prognosis, and personalized treatment strategies.
Explore and manage SCI datasets: Work with international databases of SCI patient data, ensuring accurate handling, preprocessing, and integration of heterogeneous clinical, neurophysiological, and biomarker information. These datasets are readily available at the start of the project.
Develop advanced deep learning models: Design and implement a multi-branch neural network capable of integrating multiple data modalities into a unified representation.
Implement a multi-task learning framework: Build and evaluate models that predict multiple, related recovery outcomes simultaneously, leveraging shared information between tasks to enhance predictive performance, interpretability, and generalization.
You hold a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
You have strong Python programming skills and a proven track record in developing and training machine and deep learning models using Keras/TensorFlow and/or PyTorch, supported by experience in statistical data analysis.
You have experience with collaborative coding practices, version control (e.g., Git), and working on computing clusters.
Experience with SCI data or related research topics is an advantage.
Background in biomedical projects and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration is a plus.
You are motivated to work as part of a diverse team and are committed to scientific excellence in your field.
You are proficient in both written and spoken English.

Position Overview
We are looking for a highly qualified professional to assume the role of Head of Risk & Deputy AML Officer. The position requires an in-depth understanding of the Swiss regulatory environment (FinSA, FinIA, AMLA/AMLO-FINMA) and hands-on experience in the design and supervision of risk management frameworks for portfolio-management and AMC-related activities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in working with issuers, custodians, and platform providers, including the legal and operational structuring of AMC and SPA frameworks, and the ability to manage multi-jurisdictional compliance challenges.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and continuously improve the company’s Risk Management Framework in compliance with FINMA and SRO (OSIF) standards.
• Serve as Deputy AML Officer, ensuring full adherence to AMLA and AMLO-FINMA requirements, including CDD/KYC, source-of-wealth verification, and ongoing monitoring.
• Assess and monitor market, liquidity, counterparty, and operational risks for AMC and portfolio products.
• Oversee issuance processes for AMCs, liaising with issuers, custodians, and administrators to ensure end-to-end compliance.
• Draft and review SPA and other transactional documentation related to structured products, ensuring alignment with internal risk limits and legal obligations.
• Coordinate with compliance, audit, and risk committees to prepare periodic internal control and risk-exposure reports for the Board.
• Conduct due diligence on counterparties and external service providers.
• Supervise and document the effectiveness of the internal control system (ICS).
• Provide staff training and regulatory updates related to risk, AML, and sanctions compliance.
Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in Economics, Finance, Law, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in risk management, compliance, or AML within Swiss or international financial institutions.
• Proven record of launching and supervising AMC structures and working with issuers and structured-product platforms.
• Solid experience in reviewing and negotiating SPA and framework agreements.
• Deep understanding of FinSA, FinIA, AMLA, AMLO-FINMA, and FATCA/CRS frameworks.
• Excellent command of regulatory documentation and reporting standards.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Languages: English (fluent), German (professional level), Russian (fluent), Ukrainian (native or near-native).

How you can make an impact
Lead accounting and reporting, and internal control advisory services related to IPOs (US markets and SIX), public listings, spin-offs, acquisitions and divestitures, and carve-out financial statements
Lead financial statement conversions to and from US GAAP and/or IFRS
Help shape the growth strategy of the Assurance business and build, mentor and develop teams and leverage market networks to deliver on the strategy
Coach Swiss-based teams on technical US and International accounting and reporting matters
Strengthen client relationships and generate additional engagement opportunities through excellent quality, timely execution and a strategic approach to service delivery
Who we are looking for
Motivated, self-starting team player with a “can do” attitude, who enjoys working in a fast paced environment
6-8 years of relevant experience is a requirement, including advisory and at least 4 years in external audit.
US CPA license (or equivalent),
Strong understanding of either US GAAP or IFRS (both is a plus) and SEC reporting requirements is a requisite
PCAOB audit experience is an advantage
English proficiency is required; French, German or any further languages would be an advantage.

Landspitali - The National University Hospital of Iceland is looking to expand the team of Consultant Psychiatrists. Landspitali employs around 7000 people and provides specialist health services in inpatient, outpatient and emergency departments. At the hospital we treat different kinds of psychiatric disorders at various units; Acute Inpatient Unit, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Addiction Psychiatry - Inpatient Unit, Rehabilitation Units and at our Outpatient Services.
We seek psychiatrists within different specialties/ with a variety of experiences who possess outstanding communication skills, professional ambition, and an interest to work with individuals suffering from severe mental disorders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations; make diagnoses and prescribe treatment
• Participation in multidisciplinary teamwork
• Participation in diverse educational activities and teaching of medical students; clinical mentoring of residents
• Participation in research projects
• Participation in quality and improvement projects
• Participation in out-of-hour duties
QUALIFICATIONS
• License to practice psychiatry

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION AND APPLICATION:
A full-time position at the hospital is on offer. Salary according to the current collective agreement concluded by the Minister of Finance and the Economy and the Medical Association of Iceland.
