We conduct integrative geobiodiversity research with the aim of understanding nature in all its complexity and diversity in order to preserve it as the foundation of life for future generations and to ensure its sustainable use. Across eight institutes and five research stations throughout Germany, scientists from more than 40 countries conduct research at the highest international level. The city of Frankfurt, where the Senckenberg Society was originally founded, hosts the organization’s central administrative services along with two research institutes housing extensive scientific collections and one of Senckenberg’s most renowned institutions, the Senckenberg Natural History Museum Frankfurt. Senckenberg is as much a part of the city’s identity as its skyline and its traditional apple wine. Within the framework of the project "SCRE3NED: Senckenberg Collection's RarEst – 3-dimensioNal Enhanced Digitisation", type specimens of exceptional scientific value (holotypes, paratypes and lectotypes) from various collections of the Senckenberg Research Institute and Natural History Museum Frankfurt (amber, extant and fossil mammals, Messel fossils) are digitised using micro-computed tomography (μCT), synchrotron radiation-based micro-computed tomography (SRμCT), and digital photography. The aim is to produce high-quality, standardised and FAIR-compliant 2D and 3D datasets for research, collection management and science communication. The Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) is the next-generation, ground-based facility for very-high-energy gamma-ray astronomy. It will feature two massive telescope arrays deployed across both the Northern and Southern hemispheres. Operations and scientific data acquisition within the observatory are managed by the Array Control and Data Acquisition (ACADA) system. Within ACADA, the Resource Manager (RM) handles infrastructure administration and system supervision, while the Central Control (CC) orchestrates the execution of astronomical observation workflows. As software developer, you will work for PITZ to develop server software for the accelerator control system, as well as for the ACADA system's RM and CC subsystems. A new search for the effects of ultralight dark matter is being constructed, using ultra-sensitive optical atomic clocks as the sensing element. The post holder will contribute to this search, developing a test setup for networked clock comparison and frequency stabilisation. The post holder will also help to develop the procedures to collect and analyse the frequency comparisons, forming the basis of fundamental physics searches for (e.g.) ultralight dark matter. Our goal is to build a flexible and trustworthy IoT platform based on reliable electronics and secure communication methods. The Wireless Connectivity and Sensing (WiCon) group investigates future wireless systems with a focus on security, reliability and sustainability. You will develop adaptive transmission schemes that adjust waveforms, signal processing and hardware operation to changing communication requirements. The focus is on modelling, system simulation and algorithms for energy-efficient communications. Together with RF researchers, you will investigate the interaction between communication systems and components and validate the results through SDR-based experiments. At the earliest possible date we are looking for a Research Associate “Adaptive and Energy-Efficient Wireless Communications” (m/f/d) The position will initially be filled for a period of 2 years and will be remunerated in line with TV-L E-13. The position aims at supporting further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
