As an Apprentice Cheese-Making Operator in Heerenveen, you'll have the unique opportunity to learn a recognised trade whilst earning a good salary straight away. This paid work-based training programme offers you the chance to develop into an All-round Cheese Maker in a modern, automated environment.
At Henri Willig Cheese Factory in Heerenveen, you'll start as a Cheese-Making Apprentice Operator on a fully paid work-based training programme. You'll learn, step by step, everything there is to know about producing high-quality cheeses in a modern, automated factory.
You don't need to be an experienced operator. Do you have a technical mind, enjoy working with machinery and want to develop your skills? Then we'll train you to become an All-round Cheese Maker . You'll be involved in every stage of the process, from milk reception right through to the finished product. This is what makes working at Henri Willig distinctly different from other larger cheese dairies, where you often only learn a small part of the process.
You'll work a five-shift rota , averaging 33.6 hours per week . The rota consists of six working days followed by four days off , giving you plenty of free time alongside your work.
In this role, your responsibilities will include the following
During your training, you will learn the entire cheese-making process. Among other things, you will learn to: - receive and standardise milk from cows, goats and sheep; - operate modern production lines and equipment; - produce cheeses according to more than 100 recipes; - check the quality of milk and cheese; - record production data and improve processes; - supervise the processing of whey; - identify faults and contribute ideas for process improvements.
