Interesting job for data science students or applicants with similar experience. We are currently seeking 1-2 skilled part-time programmers who can work independently and in a structured manner as part of the QIM Center (https://qim.dk/
).
The job
The primary responsibilities will involve organizing data and code, data processing of 3D images, and programming related to developing and using new and existing image processing tools maintained by the team.
You will be part of a small team of student programmers and a wider team of researchers working with computational 3D imaging in collaboration with users from many different fields. A central part of the team’s activities lies in creating new tools for processing, visualizing and analyzing 3D imaging data, sometimes using machine learning for better and faster analysis. To support this work, we have initiated the QUAITOM project – The Infrastructure for QUantitative AI-based TOMography. The purpose of QUAITOM is to establish a data science infrastructure for AI-based quantitative analysis of X-ray and neutron computed tomography (CT). We call this infrastructure the QIM Platform. By applying novel concepts and a user-friendly interface, advanced computational imaging will for the first time be made available for the very large and scientifically diverse user community within CT imaging.
As a student programmer on the team, you will be part of practical work creating code and data, applying tools to analyze 3D imaging data, and help make tools available and easy to use on the QIM platform. Depending upon your skills, you will also be involved in various parts of user collaborations.
Our expectations of you
We are looking for 1-2 part-time programmers with experience handling volumetric data, programming in Python, and navigating on a High-Performance Computing cluster. Perhaps you are a data science student, but not necessarily. It is expected that you are comfortable working both on your own and as part of a team, and most importantly, you should be well-organized with an eye for detail.
The preferred skills are:
- Experience with programming in Python
- Experience with image processing and analysis
- Experience with machine learning including deep learning
Primary activities the position will include are:
- Develop and structure code and software for 3D image processing
- Create tutorials for 3D image processing
- Process datasets using deep learning methods
- Organize and clean datasets
- Engage with users of the tools developed to support and gain feedback
We expect you to be good at communicating and a team-oriented person with good problem-solving skills, who is happy to share ideas with the group and to implement ideas from others. You are keen to take part in developing the foundation for the next generation of computational imaging data processing techniques and the scientific work it will facilitate.
We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement listed. We value potential, motivation, and the ability to learn.
What we offer in return
We offer an interesting and challenging job with a high degree of freedom regarding when and where the tasks are conducted. You will be a part of our research group in an international environment and will have the opportunity to learn new tools and be part of the group’s research activities.
