The safe step: All about 2FA

Like with many other services aiming at protecting your data from theft, two-factor authentication is now also compulsory for you when entering your Europass account. It simply means that you need an extra security step, ensuring that it is really you who is logging in. This will help prevent access to and misuse of your personal data.

What do you need for this?

Your mobile device or your eID is enough to set up your two-step login process for your Europass:

Upgrade your EU login app

Notifications that pop up on mobile devices have made it easy for hackers to access accounts.

If you use a PIN code or biometrics to authenticate with the EU Login app, you will soon receive authentication requests inside the app instead of getting push notifications.

iOS users must upgrade to the latest version of the app as soon as possible. Once the change goes live, iOS users with older versions of the app will not be able to confirm authentication requests by PIN code or biometrics.
