We are looking for a motivated and independent part-time employee to join our research team.
The position focuses on physics-based modelling in Dymola and on supporting the development and testing of advanced control strategies for building energy systems. The work is closely connected to a real-world pilot case, where measured sensor data will be used for model calibration, validation, and simulation-in-the-loop testing. By joining our team, you will contribute to an international research environment at the intersection of buildings and energy grids.
Your primary tasks will be to:
- Support the calibration and completion of a physics-based Dymola model of the pilot case
- Extend or complement the physics-based model where necessary to prepare it for controller development
- Assist in developing a Model Predictive Controller (MPC)
- Help build and test a simulation-in-the-loop setup for the MPC using the calibrated model and real-world data
- Document and validate models, methods and results to ensure reproducibility and reliability
What we expect from you
We are looking for a motivated part-time employee who is eager to apply their skills in a real research environment and contribute to international projects with real-word pilots.
You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Energy Systems, Control, Applied Mathematics or a related field. Experience with Dymola/Modelica or similar simulation tools will be a strong advantage but is not a strict requirement.
We expect you to bring an interest in control theory, building energy systems and modelling, and to enjoy working with both theory and applications. An independent working style is important, as you will help carry tasks forward, while at the same time being part of a collaborative international team.
Finally, you should have excellent oral and written English skills, as all of the work and communication will be in English.

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC). You are employed as an AC Bachelor.
The period of employment is 1 year. Working hours are 20 hours per week and can be organized flexibly. Starting date is according to mutual agreement.
The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
