About the Job

We are seeking to hire a researcher in a temporary position for up to 15 months to work on instruction-level performance analysis approaches for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). The position is affiliated with the DECAI project and builds on our prior work on instruction-level performance analysis for out-of-order processors (featured at MICRO’21, ISCA’23, and ASPLOS’26). These works produce various types of per-instruction cycle stacks that explain what an application spends time on and why. Performance-critical code is however increasingly run on GPUs, and the goal of this position is to build upon our prior work in the CPU domain to enable accurate, instruction-level performance analysis on GPUs.

Your immediate leader is the head of the computing unit.

Duties of the position

• Carry out top-tier research focusing on instruction-level performance analysis approaches for Graphics Processing Units (GPUs).
• Help DECAI partners improve the efficiency of their performance-critical GPU workloads.

Required selection criteria

• You must have a relevant Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. Your course of study must correspond to a five-year Norwegian course, where 120 credits have been obtained at master's level.
• Hands-on experience with the evaluation of computer architectures, for example using prototyping, simulation, or analytical modeling.

Preferred selection criteria

• A Norwegian doctoral degree or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD in computer architecture. If you can document that the PhD thesis has been submitted, we will take this into consideration even if you have not yet defended your dissertation.
• At least one publication at a top-tier international venue within computer architecture (e.g., ISCA, MICRO, HPCA, ASPLOS, or equivalent) as first author.
• Experience with advanced performance analysis of high-end GPUs (e.g., using Nvidia Nsight).
• Excellent written and oral English language skills

As required by law, 2% of this salary will be deducted and paid into the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

Jouw talenten en vaardigheden

Je hebt 4 jaar ervaring als Full Stack Java Ontwikkelaar en voelt je helemaal in je element binnen een team waar samenwerking centraal staat. Vanaf de analyse, doorheen de ontwikkeling tot testen en finaal de oplevering, voer je opdrachten efficiënt en gestructureerd uit. Je hebt een goed inzicht in de sterktes van flexibele, open-source oplossingen en weet deze doelgericht in te zetten binnen uiteenlopende toepassingen. Daarnaast ben je vertrouwd met het bouwen van robuuste integraties tussen systemen en externe databronnen. Je volgt technologische evoluties op de voet en hebt interesse in het inzetten van AI, waarbij je kansen ziet om processen slimmer, efficiënter en innovatiever te maken.

Je beschikt over de volgende competenties als ontwikkelaar:  

• Je kan programmatieopdrachten zeer vlot uitvoeren over de gehele levenscyclus van het ontwikkelproces: coderen, testen, debuggen en deployen.  
• Je beschikt over gedegen ervaring in het maken van technische analyses en het uitwerken van de architectuur.
• Je stelt samenwerken centraal, kan het ontwikkelteam op sleeptouw nemen en je collega ontwikkelaars coachen.

Je werkt binnen een ecosysteem met onder meer een Kubernetes platform, databases zoals DB2 en PostgreS, ontwikkeltools zoals Git, Maven en Bamboo, frameworks zoals React, Spring Boot, Spring Security en IAM tool Keycloak. Je kan de volgende technische vaardigheden voorleggen om je bijdrage te leveren binnen ons IT landschap: 

• Je beschikt over ruime ervaring in de ontwikkeling van JAVA gebaseerde toepassingen. 
• Eveneens heb je kennis van het ontwikkelen van moderne, gebruiksvriendelijke single-page applicaties. 
• Je kan REST services ontwikkelen en integreren, waarbij je data op een gestandaardiseerde en efficiënte manier ontsluit via HTTP-methoden (API). 
• Relationele databases zijn jou bekend, waarbij je ook vertrouwd bent met het modelleren, beheren en optimaliseren van gegevens. 
• Je hebt ervaring met containertechnologieën en weet hoe je applicaties efficiënt verpakt, uitrolt en beheert binnen moderne omgevingen. 
• Je hebt ervaring met Java build pipelines en integratietools, en weet hoe je het build- en deployproces betrouwbaar organiseert.

Jouw toekomstige job

Ben jij de functioneel analist die we zoeken? Het is een uitdagende job waar je bovenop de taken van een functionele analist ook de verantwoordelijkheid krijgt over de data architectuur.   

Het Beleidsdomein Onderwijs en Vorming is op zoek naar een functioneel analist / data-architect die de behoeften van de business vertaalt naar heldere, consistente en gedetailleerde functionele vereisten voor de ontwikkeling en optimalisatie van de dataproducten en -pipelines op het dataplatform.

Binnen dit dataplatform speel je een sleutelrol in het definiëren, uitwerken en implementeren van een beleidsdomeinbrede data-architectuur die strategische initiatieven ondersteunt en datagedreven besluitvorming mogelijk maakt. Daarbij waak je erover dat data toegankelijk, veilig, kwalitatief, geïntegreerd en toekomstgericht wordt beheerd, in lijn met de evoluerende noden en doelstellingen van de organisatie.

Je belangrijkste taken zijn:

• Je onderzoekt functionele vraagstukken, veranderingsaanvragen en je bepaalt de scope van (complexe) dataprojecten.
• Op basis van grondige analyses van processen en databronnen, geef je advies en teken je oplossingen uit: je vertaalt gebruikersbehoeften in datamodellen en dataproducten.
• Je documenteert de functionele kennis in het kader van kennisborging en overdracht.
• Je maakt deel uit van het datateam en werkt intensief samen met data engineers en vormt hier de link met de business/domeinexperten.
• Je behoudt het overzicht van gegevens die aanwezig zijn in de verschillende bronsystemen en kan deze omvormen tot een optimaal formaat voor rapportering.
• Je hebt een goed overzicht van de gegevens aanwezig op het dataplatform voor rapportering, kan ze waar nodig positioneren.
• Je bent verantwoordelijk voor de uitwerking en naleving van datagovernance en architecturale richtlijnen op het dataplatform en gerelateerde rapporteringssystemen.
• Je blijft op de hoogte van trends en ontwikkelingen in het vakgebied.
• Je biedt ondersteuning bij de operationele werking (aanspreekpunt voor functionele vragen, probleemanalyse bij escalatie, ...).

Jouw toekomstig team
Je treedt in dienst van Vlaanderen Connect, met een contract voor onbepaalde duur, en je wordt voor lange termijn (minstens 3 à 5 jaar) ter beschikking gesteld aan het Departement Onderwijs en Vorming. Je zal jouw taken uitoefenen ten behoeve van het ganse beleidsdomein Onderwijs.

Het beleidsdomein Onderwijs en Vorming bestaat uit vijf entiteiten die elk een eigen missie hebben, nl.

• Het Departement Onderwijs en Vorming stippelt het Vlaamse onderwijsbeleid uit en ondersteunt de Vlaamse minister van Onderwijs en Vorming met een brede reeks beleidsondersteunende taken
• Het Agentschap voor Onderwijsdiensten (AGODI) is verantwoordelijk voor de uitvoering van het onderwijsbeleid van het basis- en secundair onderwijs, het deeltijds kunstonderwijs de centra voor leerlingenbegeleiding.
• Het Agentschap voor Hoger Onderwijs, Volwassenenonderwijs, Kwalificaties en Studietoelagen (AHOVOKS) heeft als missie het levenslang en levensbreed kwalificatiegericht leren voor iedereen mogelijk te maken. AHOVOKS heeft een waaier aan diensten binnen het onderwijs onder zijn vleugels. Enkele voorbeelden hiervan zijn het financieren van universiteiten, hogescholen en centra voor volwassenenonderwijs en basiseducatie, het uitbetalen van de studietoelagen van studenten in het hoger onderwijs en het organiseren van de examencommissie secundair onderwijs.

• Minstens 3 jaar relevante werkervaring heeft in een gelijkaardige functie.

• Op rustigere momenten neem je internal sales taken op, waaronder actieve telefonische prospectie (warm en koud).

Af en toe ga je mee naar een beurs of event, maar dat is bijzaak — de kern zit in je dagelijkse verantwoordelijkheid.
