Your tasks and responsibilities
- Develop the preliminary structure design of a new generation amphibious firefighter aircraft
- Investigate the panorama of existing similar aircraft to understand the different technical solutions in order to define the best structural design principles
- Perform trade offs among different structural solutions applying a Design to Value approach
- You will create an Airframe Architecture Dossier, a document showing the selection of design solutions and their rationale
- You will focus on the Structural Architecture selecting the best concept for each component
- You will focus on the airframe and you will define its architectural principles
- You will minimize cost and weight, maximise manufacturability ensuring that the aircraft can be repaired quickly
- You will develop 3D CATIA models of the Aircraft and preliminary sizing of some relevant components
Desired skills and qualifications
- Enrolled full-time student in the area of Aerospace Engineering with focus on Aeronautical Structures (light weight) - up to five years engineering course (end of Master study)
- Fluent in English is a must, German and French is a plus
- You are able to use CATIA 5 (nice to have)
- Ability to perform preliminary sizing of loaded structures (nice to have)
- You have good skills to use OFFICE tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or Google based Tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- You are a team player and a motivated master student to collaborate with

Human Factors Engineering for Future Programs is responsible for the development of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for fighter aircraft. The associated tasks cover requirements engineering, HMI design and specification as also assessments for validation and verification and evaluation of arising new HMI technologies regarding their potential for innovative user interfaces.

Your tasks and responsibilities
This internship will entail multiple tasks. However, the main task will be the creation of a vector map that can be used in demonstrations and in research and development projects. In addition, multiple other tasks (e.g. literature research, tailoring of AI tools) will be worked on in the time left after the map is created. The tasks will allow for insights into more work currently happening in the Human Factors Engineering department.
- Create a vector map using either QGIS or Carmenta
- Support other projects through literature research
- Work on AI tools to tailor them to projects
- Aid colleagues by working on miscellaneous tasks
Desired skills and qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Is enrolled full time Student within Human Factors, psychology, Aerospace Engineering, Geodesy or related fields
- is a good team player and has good communication skills
- Language Skills: fluent in German and English
- has basic knowledge with AI tools
- Optionally: has basic knowledge in map processing (optimally experience in GIS tools)
- Optionally: has basic knowledge with prototyping tools (e.g. Axure, Figma, Adobe XD, …)
- Optionally: has prior experience in aviation/military aviation
