Job Description
We are on a lookout for a hands-on Principal ML Engineer (Agentic AI) to join the Vendor Data Team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences to go beyond prompt engineering into autonomous orchestration: designing agents that generate their own prompts, tools that empower AI with real-world actions, and judge models that validate outputs. Your work won’t sit in research notebooks — it’ll ship.
As part of our Vendor Team, you’ll be the driving force behind the success of thousands of restaurants, shops, and local businesses. Your contributions will empower vendors with advanced tools to manage their operations, boosting their visibility and reach. Every feature you help build will create growth opportunities for businesses of all sizes, strengthening Delivery Hero’s ecosystem and impact.
In the Vendor Data Team we build AI-native products that operate businesses. At our core is a 360° AI Account Manager for food delivery platforms—a system that moves beyond static ML pipelines to reason, act, and automate workflows. Our architecture integrates large-scale data pipelines, retrieval systems, and agentic components to drive real-world decisions. We believe a model is only as good as its environment; therefore, we prioritize data quality, system design, and infrastructure reliability. As an agentic-first team, we use tools like Claude Code to ensure AI actively participates in development, always grounded in robust engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and own end-to-end ML and data systems — from ingestion and transformation to model integration and production deployment
- Architect and maintain scalable data pipelines for RAG, embeddings, and real-time/near-real-time data processing
- Build and operate production-grade ML services and APIs, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance
- Define standards for infrastructure, deployment, and system reliability, including Infrastructure as Code, containerization, and orchestration
- Integrate ML systems with external APIs, tools, and operational platforms, enabling real-world actions and automation
- Lead the implementation of security best practices for AI systems, including secure prompt handling, data privacy protocols, and protection against adversarial attacks or model injection. Ensure all AI agents operate within strict authorization boundaries.
Qualifications
- Strong experience designing and scaling production-grade ML systems and data platforms, including large-scale deployments
- Deep expertise in data engineering and ML pipelines, including feature/data pipelines, RAG systems, and embedding workflows
- Proven experience building and maintaining reliable data infrastructure with strong guarantees around data quality and freshness
- Strong engineering skills in Python and SQL, with experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud environments
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform or similar) and building reproducible, scalable systems
- Hands-on experience integrating ML systems with real-world APIs and services, and operating them in production with monitoring and observability
Nice to have:
- Experience with LLMs, agent architectures, or orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, etc.)
- Familiarity with synthetic data generation, evaluation systems, or AI feedback loops
- Experience with agent or ML observability tools such as Langfuse or LangSmith
- Experience with model serving, routing, or inference optimization
- Experience with open-source models (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral, Mixtral) or custom inference stacks
- Knowledge of system reliability, failure handling, and safety patterns in AI systems

Summary & Role Information:
At SAP Business AI, we are exploring the next frontier of AI on structured business data like graphs, tables and more. We want to enable companies across all industries to collaboratively train foundation models and build knowledge graphs.
As Area Product Owner (f/m/d) you will own the product backlog for the Industry Knowledge Graphs (IKGs) – the unified, semantically rich representation of domain specific and generalized business entities, processes, and relationships across SAP applications and industries. You translate strategy and stakeholder needs into a clear, prioritized roadmap, write the user stories that drive delivery, and partner closely with the IKG Tech Lead, knowledge engineers, data engineers and AI scientists to ship. You also represent the IKGs to its consumers – the MMIFM teams developing multi-modal industry foundation models and OP4I and an open data platformteams, SAP product groups including SAP Knowledge Graph, and external partners – making sure what we build matches what they need. You work alongside architects, designers, engineers and senior product managers to refine value proposition and execution. You will help shape concept documents and (sub-)proposals for new IKGs capabilities, and ensure alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior management in a complex, dynamic environment.
What You'll do:
-
Own and prioritize the IKGs product backlog – gather requirements, write user stories, and ensure the team is always working on the highest-value items
-
Detail out, test and iterate the IKGs value proposition: a unifieddomain specific, trustworthy representation of SAP’s broad industry business knowledge that grounds GenAI applications and powers downstream foundation-model workstreams – for the benefit of SAP’s customers and SAP itselfthe whole European industry ecosystem
-
Identify and onboard the IKG’s key consumers (MMIFM, OP4I, SAP product teams, external partners) and ensure tight alignment between what they need and what we ship
-
Partner with Product Management to define the business plan and measurable outcomes for the IKGs area
-
Work hand-in-hand with the IKGs Tech Lead and the R&D team to translate roadmap into requirements, sprint goals, and measurable releases
What you bring:
-
8+ years of related professional experience incl. 5+ years of product ownership in the area of AI, data, or platform products
-
Solid technical literacy in Knowledge Graphs and semantic data – you don’t need to design ontologies yourself, but you can reason about RDF, SPARQL, KG construction trade-offs, and graph RAG / LLM grounding well enough to write meaningful stories and run informed reviews with the IKG Tech Lead
-
Passionate about identifying new ways to generate value from structured business knowledge
-
Track record of delivering high-quality features that meet novel customer needs and balancing the needs of multiple consumers in a highly dynamic environment
-
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to think outside the box – roll up your sleeves to ship
-
Strong abilities to manage internal stakeholders, surface use cases, and drive consensus across engineering, product, and partner organizations
-
Exceptional teamwork abilities, including a track record of delivering C-level grade presentations and driving alignment with senior management
-
Demonstrated capability in shaping product vision and roadmaps, running discovery, calculating business value, and making impactful product decisions on behalf of users
