Subject description Structural Engineering includes loads, design, sustainability, load carrying capacity, repair and strengthening, of buildings and civil engineering structures made of concrete, steel, wood and other materials, separately or in combination, at normal conditions, in cold climate and in fire. Project description The project, Drive-by monitoring, develops, validates, and demonstrates a vehicle-based monitoring system for continuous condition assessment of bridges, where vibration data are collected using trains, buses, and municipal service vehicles. The objective is to advance the method from a research concept to large-scale implementation in urban environments, supporting proactive and data-driven bridge management. The work includes system development and data analysis (sensor integration, data acquisition, signal processing, and indicators based on vehicle–bridge interaction), as well as structural validation in real-world environments through comparison with reference sensors and analysis of operational and environmental influences. The project is carried out in collaboration with municipalities and industry partners and includes the development of decision-support tools for maintenance planning and prioritization. Duties You will conduct research with substantial experimental and data-driven components that are expected to result in publications in peer-reviewed international journals and presentations at major conferences. Your work will include: - Plan and conduct experiments and field tests related to drive-by monitoring - Analyze vibration data from vehicle- and bridge-mounted sensors - Develop and validate condition indicators and decision-support tools - Collaborate with external partners in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of field installations - Contribute to supervision, teaching, and research proposals Qualifications To be eligible for this postdoctoral position, you must hold a PhD in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field, with specialization relevant to structural health monitoring, bridge engineering, structural dynamics, and/or condition assessment. You will be a lead builder in our AI evolution, designing agents that don't just "chat," but reason, plan, and act. What You’ll Do Architect Autonomous Agents: Build sophisticated agents using frameworks like Google ADK and OpenAI Agents SDK capable of tool-calling and multi-step reasoning. Master the Voice Stack: Implement and optimize real-time Voice AI pipelines integrating STT and TTS engines (e.g., Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper). Solve for "The Latency Gap": Engineer high-performance solutions to minimize delay, ensuring human-like conversational fluidity in voice interactions. Build the Infrastructure: Develop robust backend orchestration in Python and TypeScript, leveraging RAG to ground agents in business data.
