What we are looking for:
NRC Europe (Belgium) is seeking a seasoned Senior EU Policy and Advocacy Adviser to shape and elevate our advocacy towards the EU and its Member States across NRC's priority themes. In this role, you will drive forward NRC's global strategic ambitions while strengthening policy influence and advocacy capability across country and regional teams.
What you will be doing:
You'll play a key role in driving our mission forward. Your main areas of focus will include:
Policy and Advocacy
- Lead on global advocacy priorities efforts targeting the EU and its Member States initiated by Head Office, Regional, Country Offices and/or other NRC representation offices.
- Monitor relevant EU/MS foreign policy developments affecting NRC's work, provide analysis to support NRC's understanding of EU/MS policies and processes, identify opportunities for influencing and informing NRC advocacy strategy and policy development.
- Propose, initiate, and implement advocacy initiatives geared to influence the policies and practices of the European Union and the Member States as part of NRC advocacy strategies.
- Advise, inform, and support the development of global policies and/or country-specific advocacy strategies and recommendations in collaboration with other NRC Representation offices, Advocacy Advisers, and Managers.
- Draft and disseminate high quality advocacy products: briefings, talking points, speeches, letters, reports, position papers, and other written materials for internal and external use as agreed.
- Organise or coordinate visits from field colleagues to Brussels to support NRC's advocacy objectives.
- Effectively liaise internally with file-holders to ensure coordination, consistency, and alignment of NRC messages with NRC's global policy positions and objectives.
Liaison and representation
- Develop and maintain constructive relationships with representatives of EU and Member State's institutions on specific workstream.
- Work closely with other humanitarian NGOs and networks in the context of joint advocacy initiatives at EU and Member States level.
- Represent NRC in various meetings and international fora.
- Act as a main focal point on EU policies for relevant areas of responsibilities.
Development
- Act as the in-house specialist in relation to delegated areas of Advocacy provision (country context or theme specific, and/or interlocutor specific) and provide advice, guidance to senior NRC colleagues (e.g., NRC Representation Office Directors, NRC Country/Regional Directors, and Heads of Programme, Secretary-General's Office).
- Provide technical support, advice, guidance, and capacity building to NRC in-country advocacy leads and to colleagues in other NRC offices in relation to own specialist and lead areas of advocacy.
- Contribute to further increase NRC's profile on the EU scene including, when relevant, through strategic use of media and social media.

What you will bring:
- University degree or equivalent qualification in international relations, law, or social studies.
- At least 7-10 years of professional experience in humanitarian settings and complex crises.
- Demonstrated experience in leading humanitarian advocacy strategies that impact on major institutional decision makers.
- Previous experience in representing NGO's, donors, or UN agencies in formal settings.
- Understanding and interest in EU foreign policy, European institutions, and processes.
- Demonstrated experience in developing sound and actionable policy recommendations tailored to their interlocutor. Ability to present arguments in a structured, compelling, and articulated manner.
- Previous experience in drafting speeches, talking points, and position papers. Good research and analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of international law, IHL, humanitarian principles and of the humanitarian system.

- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

About the position
Position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Soil Invertebrate Ecotoxicology available at the Section for Aquatic Biology and Toxicology, Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo.
Starting date as soon as possible after April 7th, and no later than mid-August 2026.
The appointment is a full-time position for a period of 3.25 years (15% of which is devoted to career promoting work, in the form of teaching activities and administrative tasks related to the project).
No one can be appointed for more than one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo.
Project description
Global climate change and pollution are major threats to ecosystem integrity and biodiversity, and challenge a sustainable future. Climate change affects the accumulation and effects of pollutants in organisms, so-called climate-induced toxicant sensitivity. In the SoilStress project funded by the Research Council of Norway (project number 358314), we address mechanisms underlying cumulative effects, recovery, and ecophysiological tipping points from multiple stressor disturbances (climate change and pollution). We will study complex questions of WHY key biological responses to multiple stressors (climatic stress and agricultural used pesticides) differ between populations, micro-climate, and climatic regions; WHY tolerance to pesticide exposure decreases with temperature stress; and IF the tipping point to disturbance by temperature and pesticides, and recovery from disturbance removal, depends on the populations phenotypic plasticity and/or genetic adaptation. As our model system, we study springtails (Collembola), key terrestrial ectothermic invertebrates of the soil community.
The postdoc will be mainly responsible for conducting long-term laboratory experiments investigating why pesticides exhibit increased toxicity to springtails at higher temperatures, exploring mechanisms such as enhanced bioaccumulation leading to elevated internal concentrations, metabolic scaling effects, and the rising costs of repair and homeostasis maintenance under pesticide-induced stress. This involves analyzing toxicokinetic processes in the ecologically relevant species Hypogastrura viatica and its diet across varying temperatures and exposure concentrations, while considering how temperature influences uptake, elimination, biotransformation, and the formation of potentially more toxic metabolites. The role emphasizes sublethal effects on fitness, using demographic modeling to assess impacts from genes to populations, and testing hypotheses related to metabolic rate increases, energy allocation shifts, temperature-dependent bioaccumulation, and varying toxicity across biological levels.
We seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic candidate who has completed a PhD degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree) in ecotoxicology or related fields. Candidates with experience in experiments with soil invertebrates, especially springtails, and publishing papers in leading journals are highly encouraged to apply.
The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period.

- Demonstrated experience and ability to conduct ecotoxicological, ecological or physiological experiments targeting sublethal effects in animals
- Demonstrated experience in toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic studies
- Proven skills in statistical analysis
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English or a Scandinavian language
Desired qualifications:
- Driver license Level B
- Proficiency in statistical analysis to evaluate sublethal effects, preferentially under combined stressors exposure like temperature and pesticides
- Experience with bioinformatics (omics interpretation).
- Experienced in working with soil invertebrates, particularly springtails
- Familiarity with life history theory and energy allocation issue

Department of Biosciences (IBV) is one of nine departments at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Integreat – the Norwegian Centre for Knowledge-driven Machine Learning at the University of Oslo – invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in preference learning for LLMs. We seek a motivated researcher who values collaboration, inclusivity, and impact, and who will contribute to a supportive, interdisciplinary research environment with a strong focus on mentoring and career development.

About the project
The intended focus of the position is to advance the research on preference learning for LLMs, including the use of synthetic data, and in particular for data-constrained settings. We welcome applicants with a strong background in NLP and practical experience with LLM development; experience in statistical modelling is an advantage. The project involves close interdisciplinary collaboration between statisticians and NLP researchers at Integreat.
The position is also affiliated with the Language Technology Group (LTG) at the UiO Department of Informatics (IFI). LTG is an international and diverse group, with research targeting a broad range of areas within NLP, including training and benchmarking of large language models (LLMs). Machine learning is the mathematical and computational engine of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and therefore a fundamental force of technological progress in our increasingly digital, data- and algorithm-driven world. Integreat develops theories, methods, models and algorithms that integrate general and domain-specific knowledge with data, laying the foundations of next generation machine learning. This will be done by combining the mathematical and computational cultures, and the methodologies and theories, of statistics, logic, language technologies, ethics and machine learning, in new and unique ways.
Focus of Integreat is to develop ground-breaking methods and theories, and by this solving fundamental problems in science, technology, health and society.
