THE POSITION

The Team Leader reports to the Head of Production, Alexander List Feirup.

 

THE ROLE

At Tuco Production, boats are built to a high standard of quality. Customers include the defense sector, police, and emergency services.

As Team Leader in the GRP department, you will be hands-on and closely involved in production. You are able to balance close technical support for employees with maintaining an overview of construction projects. You ensure quality in all deliverables.

With responsibility for glass fiber/carbon fiber composites using vacuum infusion/molding, a strong understanding of materials and curiosity about physical processes is essential. You may not be an expert in all areas, but you are quick to learn and motivating.

Your primary responsibilities also include:

  • Planning and coordinating daily work in the department

  • Actively working with quality assurance and continuous process optimization

  • Managing resources, procurement, time tracking, and schedules for ongoing projects

  • Conducting daily board meetings, construction meetings, and project meetings

  • Leading and developing a team of skilled production employees and apprentices

  • Close collaboration with your manager, the design department, and project managers

Job description

Nordic RCC seeks a skilled and experienced Project Manager to drive an IT project with many internal and external stakeholders, several deliverables and milestones, delivered within agreed go-live dates.

You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project as scoping, planning, execution and delivery. Working closely together with a big global vendor and senior stakeholders across Nordic RCC, you will ensure seamless collaboration and a transparent strong approach to project management.

You will guide the project team incl. project managers through strong project risk management and planning, dependencies to other projects, financial control, stakeholder alignment, and progress monitoring in close collaboration with the internal and external Steercos, ensuring alignment with Nordic RCC’s goals.

Your primary tasks and areas of responsibility:

  • Facilitate a strong collaboration and communication among program/project stakeholders from the different departments in the organization, the vendor's project organisation and the internal/external Steercos

  • In control of budget, forecast and monthly financial updates, incl. alignment with financial milestones from vendor

  • In control of project scope, resource needs according to project plan, manage project risks continuously through the project lifetime in close collaboration with vendor, internal project managers and the Steercos

  • In control of develop, coordinate, communicate and execute project plans with clear milestones and deadlines, ensuring to deliver all milestones on time in close collaboration with both vendor and Nordic RCC

  • Monitor program/project progress, assess performance, and report outcomes to key stakeholders/Steercos by monthly meetings and reporting to Leadership team in Nordic RCC

  • Lead a strong transition from each go-live to operational phase, ensuring an organized handover to line organization for the different deliverables

  • Use best practices and processes, e.g. Stage Gate Model, Governance model, Resource management, Project Risk Management etc. to provide the optimal guidance to cross-functional project teams throughout the project lifecycle with focus on balancing quality, efficiency, deliver on time and financials

Required skills and experience

The ideal candidate holds a BA or MA in IT with strong project or program management experience working with software development in an IT project in collaboration with a big global vendor.

Key skills include:

  • Strong drive and passion for project management, ensuring the project teams deliver on time in expected quality/scope and in control of finance

  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills

  • Proven track record in managing senior stakeholder expectations and leading cross-functional teams in collaboration with an IT vendor

About the position

Are you motivated to take a step towards a doctorate and open up exciting career opportunities? As a PhD Candidate with us, you will work to achieve your doctorate, and at the same time gain valuable experience that qualifies you for a further career in higher education, and research in and outside academia. The PhD candidate will contribute to the development of novel modelling approaches to understand the environmental fate and impacts of plastic pollution in Norway.

IndEcol is a pioneer in the development and application of industrial ecology methods, as well as the use of large data sets and scientific computing in industrial ecology. We focus on understanding resource use and environmental pollution associated with human activities, assessing the environmental aspects of different technologies and modeling society’s use of materials. IndEcol combines world-class competence in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Input-Output analysis (I/O), and Material Flow Analysis (MFA) with scientists’ contribution to IPCC and IPBES assessment reports, the International Resource Panel, active participation to the Life-Cycle Initiative hosted by UN Environment, and numerous publications featured in high-ranked journals. IndEcol hosts its own International MSc program and contributes to NTNU’s engineering education. The research team consisting of eight faculty members, the Industrial Ecology Digital Laboratory, and about 70 researchers, Post Docs. and PhD students. About the project

Plastic pollution is escalating across all environments and is recognized as a major One Health challenge. However, impacts on freshwater and terrestrial biodiversity are still largely unassessed in a life cycle assessment (LCA) context. At the same time, micro- and nanoplastic exposure in humans is confirmed, but the health implications remain poorly understood and no metrics exist to represent these effects in LCA. This project addresses both gaps in parallel by developing the first integrated One Health modelling framework for plastics. We will build a multi-compartment fate model for terrestrial and freshwater systems, derive the first Characterization Factors for plastic impacts on biodiversity beyond the ocean, and translate biomedical evidence into responsible early-stage human health indicators compatible with LCA. The PhD`s work will focus on both environmental transport modelling and biodiversity impact assessment, in close collaboration with interdisciplinary project partners.

The project is funded through NTNU and is an interdisciplinary project between the Industrial Ecology Programme at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering and the Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science.


Duties of the position

  • Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate
  • Building and calibrating a multi-compartment environmental fate model to simulate transport, retention and accumulation of plastics
  • Deriving exposure–response relationships and contributing to the development of characterization factors (CFs) for biodiversity impacts in Life Cycle Assessment
  • Write academic publications of good quality and contribute to popular science dissemination
  • Participate actively in Industrial Ecology Programme
  • Participate in international activities such as conferences and/or research stays at foreign educational institutions

Salary and conditions

In the position of PhD Candidate, code 1017, your gross salary will normally be NOK 550 800,- per annum depending on qualifications and seniority. A 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund is deducted from the salary. 

The employment period is 3 years for the doctoral work.

For employment as a PhD Candidate, it is a prerequisite that you gain admission to the PhD programme in Engineering within three months of your employment contract start date, and that you participate in an organized doctoral programme throughout the period of employment.

aiD – AI for Decisions – is one of Norway's new national AI research centers, funded by the Research Council of Norway and industry partners. Led by NTNU and SINTEF, the center brings together 13 research partners and more than 60 partners from industry and the public sector. About the project

Many critical decisions in science and engineering, from managing power grids to planning subsurface energy operations, depend on computational models that are inherently uncertain. Uncertainty quantification (UQ) seeks to characterize and propagate this uncertainty but translating it into actionable risk measures remains computationally demanding and methodologically challenging. In realistic applications, uncertainty arises from multiple sources, including parametric uncertainty, model-form and structural assumptions, numerical discretization, and incomplete or noisy observations. Addressing these uncertainties typically relies on ensemble-based simulations using computationally expensive high-fidelity models.

This PhD project addresses this challenge by researching agentic programming frameworks for decision-oriented uncertainty and risk quantification, in which multiple specialized AI agents collaborate to design, execute, and evaluate UQ workflows under computational constraints. Rather than automating predefined pipelines, the agents act as meta-decision-makers, reasoning about modelling assumptions, approximation levels, and the choice of risk measures considering both decision objectives and available resources.

The central scientific aim of the PhD project is to establish formal links between uncertainty representations, risk measures, and downstream decisions, and to study how agentic reasoning can navigate trade-offs between interpretability, statistical reliability, and computational feasibility – and to develop principled criteria for when a given risk measure is well-founded given available data and resources, and when alternative approximations should be considered.

In the position of PhD Candidate, code 1017, your gross salary will normally be NOK 550 800,-per annum depending on qualifications and seniority. A 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund is deducted from the salary.

About the position

This PhD project is connected to FME NorthWind (https://www.northwindresearch.no/), a Norwegian national research centre led by SINTEF Energy Research. FME NorthWind advances research and innovation for the sustainable development of wind energy, with particular emphasis on balancing technological deployment with environmental and societal sustainability. The position is linked to Work Package 5: Sustainable Wind Development, which develops tools and knowledge for reducing environmental and community-related conflicts and supporting robust decision-making under uncertainty.

The successful applicant will work at NTNU in Trondheim. The Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU, will host the PhD position. The topic of the PhD fellowship is at the interface of numerical mathematics, fluid mechanics, and ecology. About the project

This PhD position is part of the WP5 Sustainable wind development and related to bird collision risks which is one of the main environmental impacts of onshore and offshore wind turbines on birds. In an offshore setting, many seabird populations are in sharp decline due to climate change and anthropogenic marine activities. There exists yet little knowledge on the extent of collision mortality internationally, due to the difficulty in recording such collision events offshore. Also, existing collision risk models are simplistic in nature and heavily rely on accurate knowledge of avoidance in birds. The PhD will develop an aerodynamic bird collision avoidance model, combining computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of the flow around wind turbines with the aerodynamic characteristics of flying birds to predict collision risk. This model will be fed by existing empirical data on bird flight behavioural responses to wind turbines from various bird radar studies. This model will allow simulation of birds flying within the turbulent airspace of a wind farm, and prediction of the probability of collision at wind turbines. This will be integrated into a Digital Twin (DT) framework to realize augmented reality to inform stakeholders of future environmental impacts of the planned wind farms.

Required selection criteria

  • You must have a proven ability to apply such models in applied ecological settings.
  • You must have a strong academic background from your previous studies and have an average grade from your Master's degree study, or equivalent education, which is equal to B or better compared to NTNU's grading scale. The Department of Manufacturing and Civil Engineering (IVB) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has a vacancy for a PhD Candidate in AI Transfer Learning for Design-to-Manufacturing in Circular Production Systems. The position is affiliated with the Production Management research group and offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and circular manufacturing in small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) contexts.

The PhD project will be carried out within a smart circular lab integrated into our Learning Factory, which serves both as a research instrument and as a validation environment for industry-relevant case studies.

About the project

Advanced digital technologies — including cyber-physical systems (CPS), artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) — are reshaping manufacturing toward more sustainable, circular practices. While these technologies hold great promise, their integration across the full design-to-manufacturing system remains underexplored, particularly in data-scarce SME environments where product design and manufacturing must be co-optimized for multiple lifecycle iterations.

This PhD project addresses three critical research gaps: (1) transfer learning for design–manufacturing integration; (2) AI optimization under circular constraints; and (3) validation and generalizability of learning factory findings to industrial practice.

Main research question: How can transfer learning enable bidirectional knowledge flow between AI-driven product design and manufacturing optimization in circular economy systems under resource-constrained conditions?

The research objectives are to:

  • Develop and validate a transfer learning framework for bidirectional knowledge flow between product design and manufacturing AI models under circular constraints.
  • Establish computational foundations for reinforcement learning under non-stationary material flows characteristic of circular systems.
  • Create validated experimental protocols that enable learning factory findings to generalize to industrial SME practice.

The work is organized in three phases: theoretical foundation and algorithm development (months 1–12); experimental implementation and validation on a physical testbed with 3–5 SME industrial partners (months 13–30); and analysis, generalization, and dissemination (months 31–36).


Duties of the position

  • Conduct independent research and contribute to the development of novel transfer learning architectures for AI-driven product design and circular manufacturing.
  • Design, implement, and test algorithms on a physical smart circular testbed in our Learning Factory.
  • Carry out industrial case studies in close collaboration with SME partners.
  • Publish results in recognised international scientific journals and present them at international conferences.
  • Contribute to teaching activities and to the development of the department’s new Master’s programme.
  • Take part in the mandatory PhD research education programme.

About the strategic area Ocean and coast

NTNU Ocean and Coast is one of five strategic research areas at NTNU. The idea behind these research areas is that complex societal challenges (such as the climate crisis) must be solved collectively. These strategic research areas are therefore established to promote

The Department of Biological Sciences Ålesund (IBA) at Norwegian University of Science and Technology is opening a PhD position in AI-enabled biological monitoring as part of the ongoing COD-SPAWN project funded by the Ocean and Coast thematic research area of NTNU.

COD-SPAWN aims to develop novel sensor technologies and autonomous monitoring systems for marine environments, with a particular focus on supporting sustainable coastal and fjord ecosystems. The project integrates advanced sensing, robotics, and artificial intelligence to enable continuous, high-resolution monitoring of environmental conditions and biological processes. 

The sensor technology has been successfully validated in laboratory conditions and will be further developed and adapted for marine deployment and in situ analyses. Borgundfjorden, outside Ålesund, will be used as a living laboratory and demonstration site, with particular focus on Atlantic cod spawning dynamics. This project is expected to involve extensive field activities. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the following areas:

  • Further development and field implementation of our water sampling and analyses system for:
    • Machine vision-based (AI) plankton and particle imaging
    • Implementation of sample collection for subsequent genetic analyses
  • Fieldwork and sampling campaigns to generate data series on coastal cod spawning dynamics, including:
    • Presence and distribution of fish eggs, zooplankton and particles
    • Presence and biological status of spawning fish
    • Water quality parameters

Within the scope of the project, the PhD research can be adapted to the candidate’s interests and background, allowing for specialization in biology/ecology, modelling or machine learning applications.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled candidate with a background in marine biology, fisheries biology, biological oceanography, marine environmental sciences, or related fields.

Candidates with documented experience in the application of AI (object detection) in biological studies are especially encouraged to apply. 

The project is inherently interdisciplinary, and the candidate will collaborate closely with experts in marine biology, environmental monitoring, ocean engineering, robotics, cybernetics and data science.

About the project

COD-SPAWN is an ambitious, cross-disciplinary research initiative at NTNU Ålesund that develops and pilots a next-generation autonomous monitoring system for Atlantic cod spawning and pollution dynamics in Borgundfjorden — Norway's second most important cod spawning ground and a nationally prioritized site for sediment remediation.

The project employs and further develops our advanced AI-based system for marine plankton and particle analyses alongside a suite of marine water quality sensors. In addition to the use of more traditional sampling methods from shore and boats, it deploys unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) equipped with image-based particle sensors and AI-driven data analysis pipelines to enable real-time, high-resolution detection of cod eggs, microplastics, and suspended contamination in a fjord that has historically been compromised by pollution.

The project team involves researchers from several departments at NTNU Ålesund, and you will be part of the core team consisting of two PhD researchers, and two Postdoctoral researchers. 


Duties of the position

  • Complete the doctoral training program and successfully obtain a PhD degree
  • Conduct high-quality research within the framework described above
  • Contribute to academic publications and engage in popular science dissemination
  • Actively participate in the research group associated with the project
  • Engage in international academic activities, including conferences and/or research stays at partner institutions abroad

Required selection criteria

  • You must have a Master's degree in MSc in natural sciences, preferably within the fields of either marine biology, fisheries biology, biological oceanography, marine environmental sciences or a closely related fields. Candidates with a background in marine technology or computer science, combined with relevant biological experience, will also be considered.
  • Your course of study must correspond to a five-year Norwegian course, where 120 credits have been obtained at master's level. Master's students can apply, but the master's degree must be obtained and documented before starting the position, and no later than September 2026. 
  • You must have a strong academic background from your previous studies and have an average grade from your Master's degree study, or equivalent education, which is equal to B or better compared to NTNU's grading scale. If you do not have letter grades from previous studies, you must have an equally good academic foundation. If you have a weaker grade background, you may be considered if you can document that you are particularly suitable for a PhD education.
  • You must be able to communicate fluently in English, both in writing and in scientific conversations.

Salary and conditions

In the position of PhD Candidate, code 1017, your gross salary will normally be NOK 550 800,-per annum depending on qualifications and seniority. A 2% statutory contribution to the State Pension Fund is deducted from the salary. 

The employment period is 3 years.

The PhD candidate will contribute to furthering the development of key ecological impact models within the field of life cycle assessment.

IndEcol is a pioneer in the development and application of industrial ecology methods, as well as the use of large data sets and scientific computing in industrial ecology. We focus on understanding resource use and environmental pollution associated with human activities, assessing the environmental aspects of different technologies and modeling society’s use of materials. IndEcol combines world-class competence in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Input-Output analysis (I/O), and Material Flow Analysis (MFA) with scientists’ contribution to IPCC and IPBES assessment reports, the International Resource Panel, active participation to the Life-Cycle Initiative hosted by UN Environment, and numerous publications featured in high-ranked journals. IndEcol hosts its own International MSc program and contributes to NTNU’s engineering education. About the project

Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) has seen a tremendous development in the last decades, both in terms of impact coverage and model complexity. However, there are still some impacts that remain uncovered and details to existing impact categories can be continuously added. This PhD position aims to investigate a new impact pathway that is so far uncovered, namely the impact of particulate matter emissions on (plant and/or animal) species diversity. 

In addition, insects, even though tremendously important for functioning ecosystems, are so far not included in existing impact categories. This project aims to include insects into one or several of the existing and relevant impact categories, such as land occupation or climate change.


Duties of the position

  • Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate
  • Carry out research of good quality within the framework described above
  • At least 3 academic publications, and popular science dissemination related to the research topics described above
  • Participate actively in the LCIA research group, as well as in the larger Industrial Ecology Programme 
  • Participate in international activities such as conferences and/or research stays at foreign educational institutions
  • Teaching assistant for 25% over the duration of four years. Exact courses are to be discussed, but can include TEP4220 and TEP4223
