Where does the data come from?

The information provided in this new tool is based on two main sources of data:

  • The Skills OVATE Project of the EU Agency Cedefop (In collaboration with the Web Intelligence Hub initiative of Eurostat). The Project uses experimental methods of web data collection, to count and classify online job vacancies for different occupations, from a variety of national, European, and international websites and job boards. Europass uses the data collected through the Skills OVATE Project, to present rankings of occupations in high demand across EU Countries.

  • The European classification of Competences, Skills, and Occupations (ESCO), which provides a list of what skills are considered essential and optional across different occupations, based on the work of labour market experts at national level. The essential and optional skills can be combined into skill groups, which can be classified according to relevance for an occupation. Europass uses this information to present rankings of skills groups that are most relevant for a certain chosen occupation.

You don’t need to register and create a Europass account to access the Jobs&Trends tool. However, if you have a Europass account, you will be able to receive tailored suggestions in the future.
