Research context
The project funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation will generate large scale Pacbio HiFi sequencing data from many different tissues from multiple individuals of different mammalian species as well as snRNA sequencing data from the same tissues.
The purpose is to detect different types of mutations (SNVs, indels, transpositions) in the different tissues and model their occurrence in relation to tissue specific gene expression differences as well as species, age and gender of the individuals.
Expected start date and duration of employment
This is a 2–year position from 1 July 2026 or as soon possible hereafter.
The position may include the following tasks:
- Develop computation pipelines for large scale analysis mainly using Python
- Develop approaches to infer DNA single strand damage from HiFi kinetics output
- Infer scars of repair directly from the HiFi sequences in the form of homologous repair scars and indels
- Develop new statistical approaches for data analysis.
- Analyse snRNA data and relate it to mutational outcomes

The work environment
The daily place of work for the present position is the Bioinformatics Research Centre (BiRC), Dept. of Molecular Biology and Genetics, with co-supervision from the Department of Gastroenterology at Aarhus University Hospital nearby. BiRC employs about 30 staff, postdocs and PhD students working on various aspects of computational biology and hosts a number of collaborations with the Hospital. BiRC hosts the genomeDK supercomputer, which will be available for the current project. BiRC is also responsible for the Masters in Bioinformatics education with around 30 students per year. BiRC thus offers a dynamic working environment with many young people, where the majority are international and the working language is English.
The research group of Mikkel H. Schierup currently employs eight postdocs and five PhD students in a variety of projects in evolutionary genomics. The working environment is very collaborative and PhD students and postdocs are encouraged to develop their own independent projects

At AAU Energy, a position as Postdoc in thermo-mechanical modelling and experimental study of
ferroelectric and thermoelectric devices is open for appointment from 01 August 2026 or as soon as possible hereafter. The position is available for a period of 2 years and is based at Aalborg University’s campus in Aalborg.
You will be part of the research group Applied Smart Materials for Energy Innovations (ASMEi) which is placed in the section for Thermal Engineering. The position is closely connected to our activities within self-charging batteries for a sustainable future, and your work will contribute to the development of new knowledge within this field.
Your work tasks
In this position you will conduct research within multi-physics simulations and experimental validation of innovative ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and thermoelectric energy harvesting concepts, with a particular focus on self-charging vibrational batteries. You will be involved in both independent and collaborative research activities in close interaction with colleagues in the group and external partners in Denmark and abroad.
You will work with the design and execution of research studies, the analysis and interpretation of data, and the dissemination of results in high-quality scientific outlets. Your daily work will typically involve a combination of independent research and collaboration in project teams, where you help develop concepts, methods and solutions that are relevant for the energy sector.
In particular, you will be involved in design, modelling, laboratory test, and optimization of energy
harvesting technologies e.g., ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and thermoelectric, for various innovative
applications.
You will be expected to contribute to scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and to present your work at conferences, workshops and meetings with partners. You will collaborate with researchers across the department and, where relevant, with industrial or public stakeholders. The position may include a limited amount of teaching and supervision of students at bachelor’s and master’s level, for example in the form of project supervision or involvement in courses related to your expertise. Depending on project needs, you may also take part in preparing applications for external research funding and in supporting the development of new research directions at the department.
Your competencies
You hold a PhD degree in Mechanical or Energy Engineering or can document equivalent scientific
qualifications at PhD level. Your research profile is clearly connected to vibrational and thermal energy harvesting devices and systems, and you can demonstrate experience with thermo-electro-mechanical modeling, and ferroelectric based energy harvesting design.
You have solid skills in modelling and simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics, experimental work in laboratory environments, programming in MATLAB, and data processing and analysis and you are comfortable working systematically with complex technical problems. Experience with preparation of research and innovation proposals, where your results and ideas contribute to shaping new project applications and future activities in the group, will be an advantage, as will a documented ability to publish in international journals. It will be appreciated that the candidate’s approach to research and teamwork is characterized by an open and inclusive mindset.
You communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing, and you can present your work to both specialists and non-specialists. If you already speak Danish or would like to learn it, this will be an asset in everyday life at the university and in Danish society, and language courses are available locally.

AAU Energy is a research department at Aalborg University dedicated to the development of clean and sustainable energy systems. Financial support of Grants Management
- Support Finance and Grants staff by carrying out a thorough review of grantees's financial reports to assess accuracy of presentation and compliance with the project's guidelines and with EPD's financial guidelines.
- Verifying project expenditure and supporting documents and liaising with partners on clarifications of documentation - drawing to the attention of the EPD Finance and Programmes relevant officers any issues arising from those reports;
- Liaising with grantees to obtain clarifications and missing documentation;
- Maintaining appropriate supporting documents to justify all costs in a centralised electronic filing system;
- Assisting the grantees and partner organisations in setting up their budgets and other project documents;

Requirements

Compensation

- Lunch vouchers of a unit value of EUR 8,00 (personal contribution by the trainee is EUR 1,09) will be granted for each day worked;
- A monthly public transportation card in Brussels will be reimbursed at EUR 52,00;
- In the context of its structural teleworking policy, EPD compensates remote working via a monthly teleworking allowance of EUR 154,74, combined with EUR 20,00 for the professional use of a private internet connection;
- 10 days off for 6 months of work (20 days for a full year) with 3 days off between Christmas and New Year (these days are confirmed by the management team at the beginning of each year).

Nordic RCC A/S is the Nordic Regional Coordination Center and a significant contributor to the green transition. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Management, and in close collaboration with your business and IT colleagues, your responsibilities are:
A. Strategy & Governance
As Lead Test Manager, you will be part of defining and driving Nordic RCC’s overall test strategy, ensuring consistent, high-quality testing across complex business-critical systems. You adhere to clear principles for test management, risk-based testing, and test automation, embedding them across programmes and product teams. You provide technical knowledge and guidance on how quality and testing enable reliable releases and operational stability, and you act as a trusted advisor to the Manager of Quality Management, as well as stakeholders, on test coverage, quality risks, and release readiness. Through clear direction and collaboration, you promote a strong test and quality culture aligned with regulatory, security, and operational requirements.
B. Planning & Execution
You execute on the strategy and governance, and translate the this into practical and actionable test plans, ensuring effective execution of testing activities throughout the delivery lifecycle. Working closely with development, infrastructure, and operations teams, you ensure consistent use of test processes, tools, and standards. You lead and support teams in test planning, risk-based test prioritisation, test automation, defect management, and go-live readiness. A strong focus on building and maturing automated test solutions enables efficient regression testing and predictable deliveries. Through clear coordination and transparent communication, you ensure that testing actively contributes to stable, secure, and high-quality releases.
C. Measurement & Improvement
You define and track meaningful metrics for test effectiveness, automation coverage, and application quality, enabling informed and timely decision-making. By analysing trends and test results, you proactively address quality risks and drive continuous improvement of test approaches, tools, and ways of working. You facilitate lessons learned and improvements across teams and deliveries, ensuring that insights are turned into concrete actions. You work closely with management, providing advise on how to adapt and change the ways of working to increase value creation. By continuously evolving risk-based testing and automation practices, you ensure testing remains efficient, scalable, and aligned with industry best practice.
D. Key Deliveries
You coordinate and drive the test activities, through the ways of working, framework and team structure developed in collaboration with management. You ensure clear prioritisation and actionable path of delivery, foster good and efficient collaboration across the team with a strong focus on quality and accountability, supported by management. You also ensure that testing related risks are identified and managed proactively, inform and coordinate with management on relevant risks, contributing to a reliable and well governed foundation for Nordic RCC’s deliveries.

You are proactive, analytic, positive and result oriented with a structured approach to your work and familiar with working in diverse cultures.
Ideally, you have 5 years or more of relevant work experience, with previous experience as a Test or Quality manager is considered a strong advantage. Master’s degree with a focus on software and quality assurance is preferred.
Nordic RCC is an international office, so fluency in spoken and written English is required as well as a motivation for working in an international environment.
Other key skills are:
Thorough understanding of different quality roles and how their responsibilities intersect
Knowledge of the energy sector is an advantage but not a prerequisite
Broad conceptual knowledge and understanding of technologies across the entire stack, from infrastructure to the application layer
Understanding of quality assurance best practices and design principles
Ability to recognize challenges early and proactively seek solutions
Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nordic RCC context
Nordic RCC is established by EU regulation. Our main task is not to identify new profit optimizing services, but to continuously develop services according to legal requirements in a way which adds value to our service recipients (TSOs) and, in the end, to Nordic societies.
This makes the stakeholder environment that Nordic RCC works in complex and sometime political, but also highly motivating and engaging, as we are all generally focused on value creation for society in a time where electricity is in focus (security of supply, prices, and energy transition).
We are looking for a candidate who is motivated by this. The candidate is not expected to grasp the complexity and the content of the core business in advance. This understanding will develop over time, and depending on the wishes of the candidate, there will be opportunities for training in the energy systems, markets, etc.
