We are looking for a Laboratory Technician (TAP) position to support the operation and development of the Danish Structural Imaging and Biomechanics Analysis Resource (DanSIBAR). This is a six-year funded position. The envisioned starting date is July 2026 or after depending on the candidate’s availability.
DanSIBAR is a national research infrastructure initiative currently in the establishment phase, funded to create an integrated platform for high-resolution micro-CT imaging, biomechanical testing, advanced sample preparation, and multimodal data analysis to study tissue structure, function, and quality in preclinical and clinical samples. DanSIBAR offers state-of-the-art technology for preclinical µCT imaging, nanoindentation, laser microtome-based sample preparation, and development of data integration pipelines of 2d and 3d imaging. The infrastructure will be built and is expected to become operational during the first year of the funding period. The laboratory technician will play a key role in the establishment, development, and daily operation of DanSIBAR. This includes active participation in the installation, commissioning, and validation of equipment, development of standard operating procedures, and establishment of user training and routine workflows, in close collaboration with the Data Analyst (AC-TAP), DanSIBAR leadership, and external partners. Once operational, the technician will be responsible for the reliable day-to-day operation of the infrastructure and support of DanSIBAR users.
The laboratory technician will be an integral part of the Molecular Endocrinology and Stem Cell Research Unit (KMEB) anchored at Odense University Hospital and SDU. The laboratory technician will work closely with the DanSIBAR leadership group, researchers, and users from local, national, and international collaborations. Responsibilities
The successful applicant is expected to:
Participate in the installation, commissioning, testing, and documentation of DanSIBAR equipment and workflows
Operate, maintain, and oversee DanSIBAR core equipment, including in vivo and ex vivo micro-CT systems, laser microtome, and associated sample preparation platforms
Perform routine quality control, calibration, and documentation of equipment performance
Support and train users in safe and independent operation of DanSIBAR instrumentation
Conduct data acquisition for research projects when required and assist with experimental planning
Handle biological samples, including preclinical material, in accordance with ethical and safety regulations
Contribute to the daily organization of the infrastructure, including booking systems, workflows, and user support
Be an integrative part of the DanSIBAR team including regular meetings reflecting on the infrastructure development and management.
Actively engage with the KMEB research environment and contribute to a collaborative and open working culture
Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated and reliable candidate with:
A background in biological, biomedical, or medical laboratory sciences (e.g. laboratory technician, biomedical laboratory scientist or equivalent, in danish: laborant eller bioanalytiker)
Documented experience in working with biological samples; experience and ability to work with animal models (mice) is highly desirable
Technical interest and aptitude for operating advanced laboratory and imaging equipment
A structured, responsible, and service-oriented working style
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with researchers from diverse disciplines
Proficiency in spoken and written English
Experience with µCT imaging, histological sample preparation, or advanced imaging platforms is an advantage but not required, as training will be provided. Willingness to engage in infrastructure development and user training during the establishment phase of DanSIBAR is expected.
At the Faculty of Health Sciences, we are implementing artificial intelligence in administrative workflows, and you are expected to have experience in this area.
The working language is both Danish and English; you must be able to communicate in both languages in writing and speech.

KMEB is a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment that bridges clinical endocrinology and molecular and cellular research, with a strong focus on skeletal health covering endocrine and metabolic diseases as well as tissue integrity. Researchers at KMEB employ a broad range of methodologies, from advanced imaging and stem cell biology to in vivo models and translational clinical studies.
