PhD position in Marketing 

Oslo Business School invites applications for a temporary position as PhD scholar in the field of Marketing. The PhD scholar position will be part of the PhD program at the Business School (PhD in Social Sciences, specialization Business Administration, Innovation and Governance). The successful applicant is expected to complete a doctoral degree during the period of employment. The position is three years full-time but can be extended to four years if teaching assignments are included.

The position is affiliated with the Strategy, Innovation and Marketing group at Oslo Business School. The group’s research covers a broad range of topics, including strategy, digitalization, innovation and entrepreneurship, marketing, and communication. Researchers in the group uses a variety of research methods, including surveys, experiments, and qualitative methods. The research conducted within the group explicitly aims to contribute to both theory and practice.

In the position, the PhD candidate will work on topics related to CSR and sustainability in marketing, including sustainable consumer behaviour and sustainable brands. The project will use experimental and quantitative research methods. Within these topics and methods the candidate will have considerable freedom to define the details of the PhD project. 


Qualification requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

  • Excellent MSc (120 ECTS) degree in marketing or business administration, with a grade of B or better on both the master's thesis and the overall degree. Candidates close to finishing are welcome to apply, provided the degree is completed by 1 September 2026 (documentation required).
  • Interest in marketing research, and strong skills in quantitative research methods
  • Hands-on mentality and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in written form; a good command of a Scandinavian language is an advantage

Experience in data collection and analysis, participation in research projects and academic publishing will be an advantage. 

General criteria for employment as a Research Fellow are stipulated in these regulations: Regulations relating to the University and University College Act.

Admission to the doctoral program is a prerequisite. Admission to the doctoral program is based on a comprehensive assessment of the application, including the relevance and quality of the project description. A finalized project plan for the employment period is required completed and acknowledged within 3 months from the date of employment.

About the role

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused VP Head of Marketing to join our team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, you will lead a global marketing organization across demand generation, product marketing and performance marketing functions, with a mandate to align marketing strategy with commercial execution and measurable revenue outcomes.

As a key member of the revenue leadership team, you will align marketing strategy with sales objectives to accelerate growth, improve pipeline velocity, and increase recurring revenue across our industrial software portfolio.

This role will shape how we position and scale our marketing capability as we strengthen our independent market identity and accelerate global growth.

You will be expected to challenge, influence and partner with executive leadership on commercial direction, positioning and growth priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Demand Generation Leadership

  • Shape and lead the company’s global go-to-market marketing strategy, balancing long-term positioning with measurable commercial impact.

  • Build scalable inbound and outbound programs across digital, industry events, partners, and account-based marketing.

  • Align marketing initiatives directly to revenue targets and sales capacity planning.

  • Optimize funnel performance across MQL, SQL, pipeline creation, and closed-won revenue.

Product Marketing Excellence

  • Develop vertical and persona-based messaging strategies.

Pipeline & Performance Management

In this role, you will own performance across key revenue and pipeline indicators, ensuring marketing impact is measurable and trusted at executive level.

  • Establish and monitor core revenue metrics, including:

    • Marketing Qualified Leads (MQL)

    • Sales Qualified Leads (SQL)

    • Pipeline velocity

    • Pipeline conversion rates

    • Order intake and close rates

    • Recurring revenue growth

    • Customer acquisition cost (CAC)

  • Drive accountability through dashboards, reporting cadence, and executive-level insights.

  • Partner closely with Revenue Operations to ensure data integrity and forecasting accuracy.

Beratung & Schulung: Sie beraten und unterstützen interne Anwender im Umgang mit CRM- und Marketing-Automation-Prozessen, führen Schulungen durch und fördern die sichere und effiziente Nutzung der eingesetzten Systeme. Mindestens 3 Jahre Berufserfahrung in CRM, Marketing Automation oder Data-driven Marketing   Fundierte Kenntnisse im Umgang mit CRM- und Marketing-Automation-Plattformen (z. B. SAP Emarsys, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, HubSpot) Strukturierte, analytische und ergebnisorientierte Arbeitsweise mit hoher Datenaffinität Ausgeprägte Hands-on-Mentalität, hohe Verbindlichkeit und Teamfähigkeit, Erfahrung in der professionellen Zusammenarbeit mit Marketing, Sales und IT Erfahrung mit B2B-Datenplattformen (z. B. Dealfront, Dun & Bradstreet)   Sehr gute Deutschkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift Idealerweise erste Erfahrungen im B2B-Marketing oder im Professional-Services-Umfeld (z. B. Agenturen, Kanzleien etc.)
