The RAI team conducts fundamental and principled research in all aspects of robotics with a strong European and National participation in multiple R&D&I projects. RAI has participated in the DARPA SUB-T challenge with the CoSTAR Team lead by NASA/JPL (https://costar.jpl.nasa.gov/). Research topics for this Postdoctoral researcher position will focus on one or more of following key areas, where proof of previous work with experimentally verified results is necessary: - Distributed task and motion planning - Multi-agent navigation in constrained environments - Predictive collaboration with heterogeneous teaming - Perception-aware predictive motion planning - Distributed and cooperative control - Body aware motion planning and whole-body control Duties The duties of a Postdoc primarily comprise research. You will perform research with substantial experimental components that should be published in peer-reviewed international journals and at major conferences. Qualifications In order to be eligible for employment as post doctor you must have a PhD or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in Robotics and AI, Automatic control or related subject. To help us realise our goal of being the most powerful neutron source in the world, we are now looking for a Mechanical Review Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering, Technological Analysis (META) Group, part of the Design & Engineering (D&E) Division. This position is responsible for reviewing and assuring the quality of mechanical engineering design, machine designs and review documentation across complex technical projects. This includes leading the mechanical engineering contribution to design reviews and ensuring that dimensioning and tolerances on drawings, engineering specifications, and requirements eliminate ambiguity, meet applicable standards and abide by best practices. The role involves predominantly reviewing 2D drawings, their dimensioning and tolerances and 3D CAD models, engineering specifications, requirements and manufacturing design in accordance with ISO standardization. Assessing design feasibility, manufacturability, assembly realization and overall quality are key performance indicators for this position. You will also be asked to contribute to the development and application of consistent review methodologies and draft proposals for engineering processes. Postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science - Safe Autonomous Navigation

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in Computer Science for a fixed-term position at the School of Science and Technology. Subject area The subject area for this position is Computer Science. Background We are seeking to further strengthen our team performing research on safe and robust perception and navigation for autonomous vehicles, in particular along the line of radar-based and multimodal sensing for low-visibility environments. This position is funded in part by the research project Clearpath, which is performed in collaboration with Volvo Construction Equipment, Epiroc, Boliden, Retenua, and Örebro University. The project sets out to develop multimodal, failure-resilient and trustworthy AI methods for autonomous navigation and environment awareness in low visibility, in particular mining and construction environments that are characterised by heavy dust, smoke, and fog. Sensing modalities to be used include 4D radar and thermal camera data as well as visual cameras and lidars. Expanding beyond our previous leading work on odometry, SLAM, and semantic segmentation using 2D and 4D radar data, with this project we wish to further increase resilience, trustworthiness, and accuracy using multimodal sensing – pushing the research frontier further ahead as well as implementing a live demonstrator in a relevant use case. The position is associated with the Robot Navigation and Perception Lab (https://rnp.aass.oru.se) which belongs to the Centre for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS) research environment (https://www.oru.se/english/research/research-environments/ent/aass/) and Örebro University’s AI, Robotics, and Cybersecurity center (ARC) (https://www.oru.se/english/our-profile/arc-ai-robotics-and-cybersecurity-center/). Duties and responsibilities The appointment as a postdoctoral researcher is intended to enable persons who have recently been awarded their doctoral degree to consolidate and develop primarily their research skills. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to research on trustworthy multimodal semantic perception and multimodal semantic SLAM, with the balance between these areas shaped by the candidate’s qualifications and research interests.
