The German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ) is the central simulation and data processing facility for the German climate and Earth system modelling community and one of the leading institutions in this field worldwide. DKRZ not only operates supercomputers of the highest performance class and one of the largest data and archive systems, but also participates in many national and international projects aimed at improving the software and infrastructure for climate modelling. Here we are offering a position as Research Software Engineer (all genders) HPC Code Performance Optimisation Your tasks DKRZ plays a significant role in a number of projects with the aim of advancing Earth System Modelling (ESM). This facilitates the advancement of scientific knowledge in the fields of Earth system modelling and climate research. In the context of the current development of digital twins of the Earth, it is necessary to adapt increasingly complex models and corresponding software to the most powerful HPC systems in Europe and ensure that those codes run stable and efficiently. As a member of the team of Research Software Engineers (RSEs), you will collaborate with Earth System scientists to overcome technical challenges in high-performance computing (HPC) and software development. Your responsibilities will include further developing, testing and optimising existing coupled Earth System models. This will allow them to be extended with new components (e.g. ice sheet models) without compromising the efficient execution time. This is a key challenge, given the need to use resources effectively on current and future HPC systems. For this position, we are looking for candidates who are interested in the interdisciplinary implementation of Earth System models and who want to apply their programming skills to new challenges. 1 Junior Scientists (f/m/d) for 6G Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) * You will develop and validate numerical signal processing algorithms for mobile 5G/6G ISAC scenarios using simulations and measurements from an SDR testbed combining RF, fiber optic, and quantum sensing. * Depending on your background, you will conduct algorithm research and contribute to real-time experiments using SDR hardware and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). * Together with experienced colleagues, you will engage in establishing a unique 6G distributed MIMO sensing testbed based on SDR technology using open-source tools such as GNU Radio, RFNoC and LabVIEW for real-time FPGA algorithm design operating from 0.4 - 20 GHz. * You will learn how to evaluate the results and prepare them for further studies. * You will publish your research results in international journals and present them at conferences. * You will accumulate experience in a research field, that has an enormous range of applications from construction, logistics, aviation and railways to agriculture, robotics and defense. * You will gain experience in a group of international scientists and build up your professional network within European wide research projects. In the Department of Living Matter Physics (LMP) we seek to fill a number of PhD positions. - Statistical Physics and Active Matter - The Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization (MPI-DS) at Göttingen, Germany, is an international, interdisciplinary and collaborative environment offering an exceptional research setting. It hosts a range of theoretical and experimental fundamental scientific research and a diverse group of researchers. Altogether, it employs about 300 people.  The LMP department engages in a wide range of theoretical research aimed at understanding the dynamics of living systems from a physical perspective. The department is headed by Ramin Golestanian and hosts a number of group leaders, postdoctoral researchers, students, and visitors. The research The PhD students will engage in theoretical and/or computational research in Nonequilibrium Statistical Physics and Active Matter, under the supervision of Ramin Golestanian. Your profile We are looking for excellent, enthusiastic and self-motivated early-career researchers with good communication skills to join our research team.  The PhD candidate should have: - A Master’s degree (or comparable) in theoretical physics, applied mathematics or related disciplines from a recognized university; - Strong interest in nonequilibrium statistical physics and the physics of living systems across scales; - Ability and desire to work in an international team on inter-disciplinary research topics; - Good command of English, which is the working language of the department. Salary and working hours are in accordance with the funding guidelines of the Max Planck Society for junior scientists. Our cutting-edge technology enables efficient fast switching in quantum networks, br... 1 Quantum Photonic Engineer As a Quantum Photonic Engineer at Qraken Quantum, you will play a pivotal role in the design, assembly, and realization of our QLMs. You will bridge the gap between quantum optics and engineering, working directly with the co-founders to take our prototypes into the field. Key Responsibilities * Quantum Optics System Development: Partake in technical efforts on building, characterising, and refining our QLM architecture. This includes work on multi-reflection delay lines, collimation and coupling optics, electrooptic devices, and integration of our UQOS and QLM. * Quantum Characterization: Run entangled photon experiments to validate our QLM, collect, analyze, and present data for white papers, publications and investor pitches. * Lab Automation: Write custom scripts to automate experimental data collection, optical alignment monitoring, and hardware control. * System Design: Contribute to our long-term mission by exploring and implementing tests of next generation use cases. Required Qualifications & Skills * Education: A PhD or Master's degree in quantum optics, experimental physics, photonics, or a closely related field. * Optical Alignment Expertise: Hands-on experience aligning complex optical systems. * Quantum Hardware Experience: Previous work with photonic quantum experiments, including single-photon detectors (SPADs/SNSPDs), time-taggers, and photon sources. * Programming Skills: Solid coding experience (preferably in Python) for data analysis, instrument interfacing, or hardware control. Additional Assets * Experience working with ultrafast pulsed lasers. * Familiarity with electro-optics, high-voltage RF drivers, or free-space modulators. * Experience with optical simulations.
