Mediahuis is looking for ...
an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen the Data & Insights Team within Technology & Product Studio (TPS). We’re looking for someone with a knack for setting up and managing robust solutions. If that’s you, read on!
Jobomschrijving
Your impact.
As a Data Engineer, your role focuses on productizing and maintaining our GenAI solutions. You’ll play a key part in bridging infrastructure and machine learning. You’ll work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to bring GenAI models into production, while ensuring the underlying systems are secure, scalable, and efficient. Your work will directly contribute to the operational success of advanced AI solutions.
You’ve already started daydreaming? Keep reading, this opportunity is even better than you imagined!
Your role includes.
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (Azure) using Terraform, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and scalability.
- Managing containerized ML applications with Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
- Supporting the full ML lifecycle by monitoring model performance, optimizing infrastructure, and sharing best practices across the team to foster continuous improvement.
What’s on your CV is important, but it’s by no means the only thing we attach importance to. We are looking for a specialist with a can-do mentality and a passion for data. Someone who takes ownership of various GenAI solutions at operational level, but with an eye for the broader picture. You have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive and pragmatic attitude, and a collaborative mindset. You also have affinity with machine learning workflows – you don’t need to be an ML expert, but you understand how to take a model from notebook to production.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- 3-5 years of experience as a data engineer, DevOps engineer or in a similar role.
- Programming expertise in Python in a machine learning or data context.
- Strong knowledge of Docker and cloud infrastructure; experience with Azure is a plus. And experience with Terraform; experience with Kubernetes (K8s) is a plus.
- Experience in a data engineering context is a plus, though heavy ETL is not the focus. Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure and GCP) and open-source tools like Airflow.
- English fluency is essential; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Experience with MLOps tools (such as MLflow, Weights & Biases, or Azure ML).
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud-based ML environments.
- Interest in or experience with GenAI, LLMs, or prompt engineering.
Mediahuis is looking for ...
a Data Scientist for the GenAI team within our group Data & Insights team. And we believe you are the right person.
Jobomschrijving
Your impact.
In this position, you will help shape the future of AI-driven solutions at Mediahuis. You’ll work on cutting-edge projects involving large language models (LLMs), text embeddings, and vector databases to enhance our digital products and editorial workflows.
You’ve already started daydreaming? Keep reading, this opportunity is even better than you imagined!
Your role includes.
Building upon your passion for generative AI and its potential to help our newsrooms.
- You translate business needs into concrete GenAI use cases and technical requirements
- After building and tweaking LLM-based solutions you evaluate the LLM output quality with a focus on coherence, factuality, and consistency
- You apply techniques such as prompt engineering, few-shot learning, and embedding-based retrieval
- You work with embedding and semantic search systems
- To evaluate model performance you use appropriate metrics and communicate your findings clearly to our non-technical stakeholders
- You make sure AI solutions are robust and can be put into production
- You collaborate closely with editorial and product teams to ensure alignment with business goals
What’s on your CV, is important, but by no means the only thing we care about. We find it at least as important that you want to go for it full steam ahead, just like us. Full of enthusiasm, positive attitude and always solution-oriented. You will fit right in if you are naturally curious, love to experiment, and eager to learn and share knowledge. Above all we would appreciate your proactive and pragmatic drive, and a collaborative mindset. You have affinity with the (dynamics of the) news industry, and can deal with the fact that priorities can suddenly change along the way.
In the set-up of our small team (with large impact though!) we recommend several years of experience as a data scientist or machine learning engineer. This way, you have hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI applications. You are proficient in Python and are familiar with tools like Databricks, MLFlow, and LLMOps practices. Your potential experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry or Google Vertex AI is a plus.
You possess a work permit and can work in Belgium without sponsorship.
