PhD student in electrocatalysis for sustainable energy conversion

Your work assignments The project focuses on the development and optimization of electrocatalysts and electrolyzer systems for sustainable energy conversion. The research will address both fundamental and applied questions in electrocatalysis, including CO2 conversion, water splitting, biomass-derived molecule upgrading, and other small-molecule transformations. The project aims to develop broadly applicable strategies for catalytic performance optimization and mechanistic understanding in electrochemical systems. The PhD student will work on the design, characterization, and optimization of catalysts as well as electrolyzer configurations. The work may include catalyst synthesis, operando spectroscopic measurements, reaction mechanism investigation, and optimization of catalytic performance at both the material and device levels. The PhD student is also expected to contribute to the development of new research directions, maintain accurate laboratory records, and present results in group meetings and at scientific conferences. Preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals will be an integral part of the role. As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20 per cent of full-time. Your qualifications You have graduated at Master’s level in chemistry or material or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses in chemistry or material. Alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way.
