Hi, and welcome!
Are you looking for a meaningful job where you can make a real difference in someone’s everyday life?
Do you enjoy movies, music, or gaming? You don’t have to — but if you do, that’s always a plus.
I’m a 43‑year‑old man living in my own apartment in Tromsø. I’m originally from Finland and looking for flexible BPA assistants to support me in daily life.
English is my main working language, so you’ll use English with me. You do need to understand Norwegian well enough to complete the required training and courses.
⭐ About me
I’m an author and have published several books. Creativity is a big part of my life.
Movies — especially sci‑fi — are a major passion of mine. I have a large film collection at home, and I enjoy going to the cinema. I also like gaming and music, and Iron Maiden is one of my favorites.
I value good chemistry and a relaxed, positive atmosphere.
I appreciate people who are:
- warm and mature
- reliable and respectful
- patient and calm
- able to laugh and enjoy small moments
- comfortable being close without being intrusive
You don’t need to share all my interests, but it’s a bonus if you enjoy some of the same things or at least appreciate them.
⭐ About the position
This is an on‑call position, with shifts during daytime, evenings, nights, and weekends.
Flexibility is important — sometimes you may be asked to step in on short notice (for example, due to sick leave). There will also be opportunities for more work during holiday periods. For the right person, a permanent position may become available.
As my assistant, you will be part of my daily life.
I have assistance 24/7, so one of the most important qualities in this role is the ability to balance being present and supportive while also giving space.
Sometimes you’ll be actively involved.
Other times, you’ll simply be nearby, available if needed.
Being comfortable with this balance is essential.
⭐ Tasks you’ll be doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Personal care
- Practical assistance at home
- Helping me with daily routines
- Supporting me in social activities (including going out, e.g., cinema)
- Health‑related tasks such as medication handling
I use a wheelchair and require respiratory support.
You will receive thorough training in all routines, including safe transfer techniques and how to assist me in a way that makes me feel safe and comfortable.
⭐ Who I’m looking for
I’m looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and responsible
- Comfortable with close personal assistance
- Able to work independently
- Positive, respectful, and patient
- Good at adapting your presence to different situations
- Calm, but not passive
- Engaged, but not overwhelming
Due to team balance, female applicants are encouraged to apply.
⭐ Qualifications
- A healthcare background is an advantage, but not required.
- You must be able to communicate in Norwegian (for training and courses)
- Good English skills are essential.
- You must be comfortable learning new routines and following instructions carefully.
⭐ What you can expect
- Thorough training and guidance
- A meaningful and varied job
- A workplace where your personality matters
- A role where you can make a real difference
- A respectful and friendly working environment
⭐ Interested?
If this sounds like a good match, I’d love to hear from you.
Tell me a bit about yourself, your interests, and why you think we could be a good fit.
Applications are reviewed continuously.

About the position
We invite applications for a PhD Research Fellow position in Continuous Experience Recognition for Distributed Co-Creative Immersive Systems, available at the Department of Informatics as a member of the MishMash Centre for AI and Creativity.
Starting date no later than February 2, 2027.
The fellowship period is three years.
A fourth year maybe considered and it will involve 25 percent of other career-promoting work. Other career-promoting work may consist of teaching, supervision, and/or research assistance. This is dependent upon the qualification of the applicant and the current needs of the department.
No one can be appointed for more than one PhD Research Fellowship period at the University of Oslo.
Job description
The position is part of MishMash Centre for AI and Creativity, which is a Norwegian AI centre funded by the Research Council of Norway (2025-2030). It comprises more than 200 faculty members from many higher education institutions in Norway, in collaboration with numerous public and private sector partners. The primary objective of MishMash is to create, explore, and reflect on AI for, through, and in creative practices. MishMash researchers will develop innovative CoCreative AI systems, investigate AI’s impact on creative processes, educational strategies, and address AI’s ethical, cultural, legal, and societal implications in creative domains. See mishmash.no for more information. In addition, this PhD candidate will be able to participate and exploit synergies with the RCN-funded DRIVE project on brain-driven multi-sensory robotic avatars for remote collaborative physical work.
The PhD fellowship position is located at the University of Oslo’s Department of Informatics (IFI) and is hosted by the Network and Distributed Systems Research Group (ND) with co-supervision from IFI’s Machine Learning section and the University of Inland Norway’s research group for User Perception and Engagement in XR Experiences. ND conducts research in networks and distributed systems of all scales, multimedia and AR/VR/XR systems, robotics and machine learning, advancing general and fundamental scientific knowledge driven by specific applications.
The successful candidate will join ND’s the Sustainable Immersive Networking Lab (SINLAB), a multidisciplinary team working on systems that enable users to become immersed in remote physical environments, observe them, move in them, and physically act in them, and experience the effects of their actions through multimodal feedback (audio, video, haptics). SINLAB conducts holistic research on distributed, real-time interactive and immersive systems, in particular on enabling a first-person presence in remote, augmented and virtual spaces. We work on overcoming the challenges of limited temporal and spatial accuracy of such remote interactions. We pay particular attention to the exploration of potential and limitations arising from the use of AI-based methods in predictive feedback.
The successful candidate will:
- explore how a combination of multimodal observation (audio, video, LIDAR, thermal vision) and physiological measurements (motion tracking, eye tracking, EMG, BCI, EDA, HRV) can be used to continuously assess the human experience of interaction quality, and
- how this assessment can be fed back into the AI-based predictor to tune its behaviour in real-time for a highly personalized and context-dependent experience.
This research will be conducted in collaboration with partners of the MishMash center. Specific applications in which the candidate will explore are (1) multimodal first-person presence in a remote environment through a robot, and (2) the co-creative collaboration between an embodied AI and one or more human musicians. Additionally, applicability to situational awareness and high-level control in control centers will be considered.

About ARENA and NORCIE
ARENA Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo (UiO) invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship (SKO 1352) within political science, political economy or European studies. The post-doctoral position is hosted by ARENA and connected to the Norwegian Research Council project The Norwegian Centre for International Economics (NORCIE), led by the Department of Economics, University of Oslo.
ARENA Centre for European Studies is a multidisciplinary research centre at the University of Oslo, studying the direction, dynamics and sustainability of the evolving European political order. The Centre has conducted research on political, economic, legal and social integration, transformation and cooperation in Europe since 1994. As a member of the ARENA team, you will be part of a professional research centre with extensive experience in coordinating international research projects and networks financed by European and Norwegian research funding institutions. More information about ARENA is available at www.arena.uio.no
ABOUT NORCIE
The Norwegian Centre for International Economics (NORCIE) will strengthen Norway’s capacity to understand, anticipate, and respond to structural changes and policy shifts in the international economy – through cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and the communication of actionable insights on foreign, trade, security, and development policy. Rooted in economics, political science, and geography, this interdisciplinary centre will bring together four leading research environments with distinct yet complementary expertise in international economics: the Departments of Economics (ØI) and ARENA at the University of Oslo, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). Building on the combined strengths of each of these research environments, NORCIE will provide core international economics, geo-economics, geopolitical, and international relations insights – combining heterodox methodologies spanning across the social sciences. You can read more about NORCIE here: The Norwegian Centre for International Economics (NORCIE) - ARENA Centre for European Studies
More about the position
As a post-doctoral fellow, you will be working on the NORCIE project alongside Professors Craig Parsons and Bent Sofus Tranøy at ARENA, as well as partners in the project at the Department of Economics, UiO, the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), and the Peace Research Institute Oslo. You will be expected to both assist with research tasks designed by the project leaders and to develop and implement your own research in related areas. The position is announced within the overall thematic focus of the NORCIE project, with a particular emphasis on NORCIE’s research regarding the evolving EU economic order. Given NORCIE’s mission to inform Norwegian policy discussions, it is desirable that candidates have an interest in issues of relevance to Norway.
The selected candidate should have research experience and interests that connect to some of the ARENA-led components of NORCIE.
The largest part of ARENA’s involvement in NORCIE will be related to studying the evolving EU economic order. The concept of rules-based openness has always been at the core of EU economic principles, but major pressures are pushing the EU to develop more active and discretionary capabilities. We will study these processes of change from both inside the EU (with interview research on the EU’s evolving policies regarding tradable goods, financial services, and information technology) and in the EU’s key external relationships (researching the related policies of the US, China, Russia, India and Brazil and their consequences for interactions with the EU).
Other and more specific areas of ARENA’s involvement in NORCIE will cover:
- Interactions of EU environmental policies and trade. In partnership with economists at the UiO Department of Economics, ARENA will study the politics of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and related issues, including interviews with firms, interest groups public officials at national and EU levels, with a focus on energy-intensive manufacturing sectors.
- Energy firms and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rules and norms. In partnership with economists at CMI, ARENA will study how large EU- and US-based companies in the energy sector (including fossil fuels and renewables) relate to ESG considerations. This work will include interviews with decision-makers at each step in firms’ supply chains and in sectoral associations as well as wider data on stakeholder attitudes.
You are welcome to get in contact with project leader and Research Professor Craig Parsons at ARENA, or Centre Director Pernille Rieker, if you have questions regarding your research interests’ potential fit with NORCIE’s research agenda.
The appointment is a full-time position for the duration of three years, with no teaching obligations.
The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their discipline.
The proposed starting date for the position is as soon as possible. You will be provided with office space, equipment, and services as well as necessary resources for research related field work and conference travel.
As a post-doctoral fellow, you will have your base at ARENA Centre for European Studies. You will be expected to be present in Oslo and to participate in ongoing activities at ARENA and NORCIE.

- Excellent written and oral proficiency in English is required.
- Prior experience researching these topics at the national, comparative or EU level will be considered as an advantage: trade policy, financial services, information technology, environmental policy, energy policy, corporate governance and ESG norms.
- Experience with qualitative research methods is an advantage, since the main ARENA activities will centre on interview-based research. Given the interdisciplinary nature of these projects, quantitative methodological skills are also helpful.
In assessing the candidates, particular emphasis will be placed on the quality and relevance of the submitted research publications and the article proposal. Personal suitability and motivation will be taken into consideration.
A good command of either Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
