Europass: 21 years of supporting individuals, making skills more visible and unlocking opportunities across Europe

For more than two decades, Europass has been helping people tell their stories through their skills, qualifications, and experiences, while connecting them with career and learning opportunities. What started as a document-based website with a CV editor has, since 2020, evolved into an innovative, secure and multilingual platform offering free digital tools and services. Over the years, Europass became a trusted companion for millions of learners, jobseekers and professionals, navigating a rapidly changing world of work.

Since the launch of the revamped platform in 2020, Europass has attracted nearly 150 million visits and serves users who created more than 10.2 million Europass Profiles in 31 languages.

The Europass Profile continues to be one of the platform's most popular features, while the Europass CV editor remains its most widely used tool, with users downloading around 10 million Europass CVs every year. The Cover Letter builder and Application Manager also continue to play an important role in supporting users throughout the application process. Meanwhile, growing interest in the ‘Find a Job’ page with job opportunities from EURES demonstrates how Europass not only helps users document their skills and qualifications, but also identify career opportunities. Other tools and services added over the years include the Digital skills self-assessment test, the EDC (European Digital Credentials for Learning) viewer and issuer, the Job & Skill trends tool to explore labour market trends and most recently the Interview preparation tool. Together, these services confirm Europass as a one-stop shop for career management and lifelong learning.

Looking ahead, Europass will continue to focus on accessibility, inclusivity and innovation, ensuring that even more people can benefit from its services regardless of their background or circumstances. By investing in Artificial Intelligence and Skills Intelligence, the platform aims to provide more personalized recommendations, support, and guidance. The upcoming Smart CV feature will help users better showcase the skills most relevant to specific job opportunities, fostering stronger matches between talent and labour market needs.

As Europass marks its 21 years anniversary, it continues to look ahead with renewed ambition, empowering people across Europe and beyond to live to their full potential, make their skills visible and seize new learning and career opportunities that can shape their future.
