To support our further growth ambitions, Brantsandpatents is looking for a Patent Advisor or (partially qualified) European Patent Attorney with a background in (organic) chemistry. As a Patent Advisor, you will analyze the R&D activities and innovations of your clients and develop an appropriate IP strategy based on this analysis.
Within the patent department, you will work with other patent engineers and patent paralegals. In this varied role, you will be responsible for mapping technical inventions, drafting patent applications, and managing and guiding the patent portfolios of clients.
You will keep an eye on competing innovations and advise on potential conflicts when necessary. You will also proactively propose solutions. You will represent your clients before the Belgian Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office.
You'll work from our office in Ghent.
You have or are...
- A Master's degree (preferably in engineering) with a background in chemistry. A PhD is a plus but not a must.
- Strong analytical skills and a results-oriented, quality-driven approach.
- A client-driven mindset.
- A good knowledge of both Dutch and English.
- Interest in legal principles and patent law.
- Willingness to invest in training to become a patent attorney.
