We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
What you`ll do
At SAP, we're integrating state-of-the-art AI technology with our industry-specific data and deep process knowledge to innovate across SAP products & services. Agentic AI based on Large Language Models (LLMs) is transforming how users interact with their business applications. Still, the understanding of structured and unstructured business data such as business data models, business process metadata and documentation is limited in pre-trained LLMs, challenging using agents at scale and for complex tasks. It is SAP's mission to overcome this challenge within the realm of Business AI. Our goal is to provide Knowledge Graphs (KGs) as key differentiators to address LLM challenges like hallucination and compliance, as well as enable the development of the foundation models on structured data to deliver distinctive generative AI solutions to our customers.
The Role
• Unique opportunity to build the data foundation for SAP’s Knowledge Graphs – the source of explicit knowledge across multiple SAP domains.
• Design and build robust data pipelines that ingest, transform, and load structured and unstructured business data (including SAP data) into RDF Knowledge Graphs at scale.
• Map source data into ontologies and SHACL schemas, develop SPARQL-based transformations, and operate triple stores in production alongside Knowledge and Data engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with domain specialists and data owners to understand source systems (SAP and non-SAP) and translate their requirements into reliable Knowledge Graph data flows and provisioning.
• Make critical design decisions on the data engineering stack – triple stores, ETL/ELT tooling, orchestration, and integration with downstream Generative AI applications.
• Contribute to thought leadership at the intersection of Data Engineering, Knowledge Graphs, and Generative AI.
• Present, discuss, and explain how high-quality Knowledge Graph data can benefit business use cases, and proactively propose new cases to relevant stakeholders.
What you bring
• PhD or Master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, physics, mathematics or other relevant disciplines.
• 2+ years of related professional experience with a strong background in Data Engineering, ideally including working with Knowledge Graphs in a business context.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data pipelines (batch and streaming) using modern data engineering tooling.
• Deep working proficiency in the RDF Knowledge Graph technology stack (RDF, RDFS, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL) and hands-on experience operating triple stores - familiarity with property graph solutions (e.g., Neo4j) is a plus.
• Experience mapping business operations and source systems into clear data models, ontologies, and organized schemas.
• Working knowledge of the current triple store ecosystem (commercial and open-source, e.g., GraphDB, Stardog, Virtuoso, Apache Jena, Blazegraph) and Enterprise Knowledge Graph architectures.
• Awareness of latest trends at the intersection of Data Engineering, Knowledge Graphs, and LLMs – e.g. KG construction from unstructured data, graph RAG, KG embeddings.
• Solid command of SQL, modern data warehousing/lakehouse concepts, and cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure, Databricks).
• Experience in Data Engineering with a hands-on approach to solving data challenges.
• Fluent in Python and the ability to convert your ideas into productive code.
• Ability to advise diverse stakeholders on how to bring their data into an enterprise Knowledge Graph and apply it to business use cases.
• Knowledge of SAP data and SAP applications – their data models, business objects, and extraction interfaces – is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-cultural teams.

Summary & Role Information:
At SAP Business AI, we are exploring the next frontier of AI on structured business data like graphs, tables and more. Foundation Models on structured data, like SAP-RPT-1, have ushered in the GenAI era for business relevant scenarios. Now, we are pushing further. We want to enable companies across all industries to collaboratively train foundation models and build knowledge graphs.
As Area Product Owner (f/m/d) you will own the product backlog for the Industry Knowledge Graphs (IKGs) – the unified, semantically rich representation of domain specific and generalized business entities, processes, and relationships across SAP applications and industries. You translate strategy and stakeholder needs into a clear, prioritized roadmap, write the user stories that drive delivery, and partner closely with the IKG Tech Lead, knowledge engineers, data engineers and AI scientists to ship. You also represent the IKGs to its consumers – the MMIFM teams developing multi-modal industry foundation models and OP4I and an open data platformteams, SAP product groups including SAP Knowledge Graph, and external partners – making sure what we build matches what they need. You work alongside architects, designers, engineers and senior product managers to refine value proposition and execution. You will help shape concept documents and (sub-)proposals for new IKGs capabilities, and ensure alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders including senior management in a complex, dynamic environment.
What You'll do:
-
Own and prioritize the IKGs product backlog – gather requirements, write user stories, and ensure the team is always working on the highest-value items
-
Detail out, test and iterate the IKGs value proposition: a unifieddomain specific, trustworthy representation of SAP’s broad industry business knowledge that grounds GenAI applications and powers downstream foundation-model workstreams – for the benefit of SAP’s customers and SAP itselfthe whole European industry ecosystem
-
Identify and onboard the IKG’s key consumers (MMIFM, OP4I, SAP product teams, external partners) and ensure tight alignment between what they need and what we ship
-
Partner with Product Management to define the business plan and measurable outcomes for the IKGs area
-
Work hand-in-hand with the IKGs Tech Lead and the R&D team to translate roadmap into requirements, sprint goals, and measurable releases
What you bring:
-
8+ years of related professional experience incl. 5+ years of product ownership in the area of AI, data, or platform products
-
Solid technical literacy in Knowledge Graphs and semantic data – you don’t need to design ontologies yourself, but you can reason about RDF, SPARQL, KG construction trade-offs, and graph RAG / LLM grounding well enough to write meaningful stories and run informed reviews with the IKG Tech Lead
-
Passionate about identifying new ways to generate value from structured business knowledge
-
Track record of delivering high-quality features that meet novel customer needs and balancing the needs of multiple consumers in a highly dynamic environment
-
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to think outside the box – roll up your sleeves to ship
-
Strong abilities to manage internal stakeholders, surface use cases, and drive consensus across engineering, product, and partner organizations
-
Exceptional teamwork abilities, including a track record of delivering C-level grade presentations and driving alignment with senior management
-
Demonstrated capability in shaping product vision and roadmaps, running discovery, calculating business value, and making impactful product decisions on behalf of users
-
Familiarity with SAP business applications (ERP, CRM) and their data models is a strong plus – you understand what kinds of business questions the IKG needs to answer
-
Strong communication skills in English language – verbal and written
