Wat doe je?

Na je vorming zal je deel uitmaken van een team dat ingezet wordt in het dagdagelijks onderhoud van de ICT systemen in je kazerne. Je zal samen met je team dan ook instaan voor de goede werking van het systeem. Gezien het belang van de operationaliteit van deze systemen, zal het voor jou niet mogelijk zijn om op oefening of in operatie te gaan. Dagdagelijk kom je echter wel in contact met veel mensen. Indien je echt gebeten bent door de ICT-microbe kan je je later verder specialiseren en zelfs een bacheloropleiding volgen om zo door te groeien tot een echte expert. Dan kom je terecht bij ons team ICT-experten te Peutie of wie weet word je wel een cyberwarrior in onze cyberafdeling. Voor deze job is er geen werkervaring vereist.

JOUW OPLEIDINGSTRAJECT
Militaire basisvorming (MBV)
Deze vorming in een oefenkamp in België duurt maximum 10 maanden en start met een militaire initiatiefase, waar je werkt aan je fysieke conditie en militaire basisvaardigheden leert. Daarna volgt een basisopleiding voor kaderleden. In deze periode zit je op internaat.

Gespecialiseerde professionele vorming (GPV)
In het vormingscentrum CIS (Communicatie- en Informatiesystemen) te Peutie leer je gedurende 1,5 maand de verschillende technologieën en communicatiemiddelen als onderofficier CIS, specifiek voor de TSS (Territoriale Service & Support) keten. In deze periode zit je niet op internaat. Tenslotte leer je in het vormingscentrum logistiek te Doornik gedurende 10 dagen omgaan met het materiaalbeheerprogramma ILIAS(Integrated Learning, Information and Work Cooperation System).

Stage- en/of evaluatieperiode
Nu kan je echt aan de slag op je werkplek, eerst onder begeleiding en nadien zelfstandig.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Platform Architect to join our IT Infrastructure Architecture and Design team. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our technology landscape, based on both on-premises technologies and Azure public cloud. You will collaborate within a team of experienced architects responsible for networking, databases, virtualization, and other core technologies, bringing a broad cross-technology view and experience on both on-prem and Azure-based technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architecture of both on-prem and Azure-based platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business goals.
  • Collaborate with other platform architects and teams to integrate Azure services with on-prem technologies
  • Evaluate emerging services and technologies and assess their relevance to our business.
  • Develop business cases, technical roadmaps, and implementation plans for new initiatives.
  • Define best practices on security, scalability, cost optimization, and governance
  • Support the migration of workloads from on-prem to Azure from an infrastructure point of view by re-architecting from the hardware and software choices that have been made for on premises deployments to Azure-native components and solution
  • Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for Azure within the Infrastructure Architecture and Design team.
  • Contribute to the continuing evolution of the on-premises infrastructure or private cloud.
  • Own your technology – develop long-team vision for your primary technological responsibilities
  • Propose cost effective alternatives to existing solutions
  • Ownership of infrastructure related software contract related to job content – roadmap follow up, budget forecasting, working with procurement on securing optimal deals

 

Your profile

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent through experience.
  • Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT with at least 3 years in IT architecture roles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Proven multi-year experience in designing and implementation IT infra solutions both on-premise and on Azure
  • Strong understanding of and proven experience with the following IT infrastructure components:
    • Virtualization/IaaS: VMware/OpenStack
    • Containerization: Kubernetes, OpenShift
    • Operating Systems: RedHat Linux, Microsoft Windows
    • Networking: Cisco ACI, AVI/F5 load balancing, PaloAlto firewalls
    • Database: Oracle, Oracle Exadata, Couchbase, PostGreSQL
    • Automation: Ansible, Bicep, ARM, Inmanta, Terraform
  • Experience on designing and implementing solutions that span the full infrastructure stack
  • Strong understanding of Azure IaaS, PaaS, networking, identity, and security services.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integration with on-prem infrastructure.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions.
  • Ability to drive change in an environment with multiple external partners/service providers
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms (Oracle OCI, Amazon AWS, Google GCP) is a definite plus.

Your mission: what can you expect from this role? 

You will be a part of our Security, Product & Technology team, focusing on product management, presales, security and technical design activities. As a security presales architect, you will act as a technical advisor to our sales team and clients, providing pre-sales technical expertise. You will work closely with clients, sales teams, and engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery and positioning of security services that protect organizations from evolving cyber threats. 

The presales activities will focus on the following services: 

  • Managed Detection & Response (MDR) combines with Extended Detection & Response (XDR)
  • Penetration Testing
  • Breach & Attack Simulation (BAS)

Your expertise will directly influence the experience of our valued clients. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Presales support: Engage with prospective clients to understand their security challenges, architecture, and goals. Deliver tailored presentations & demos to showcase the benefits of our security services.
  • Solution Design & Architecture: Design and architect security services based on client requirements and industry best practices. Propose scalable, robust, and secure architectures to address customer needs.
  • Technical expertise: provide subject matter expertise in security technologies, including but not limited to network security, EDR, identity & access management (IAM), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), Extended Detection & Response (EDR), cloud security, and threat intelligence.
  • Sales enablement: Collaborate with the sales team to create tailored proposals, respond to RFPs, and deliver technical documentation that supports the sales process. Assist in identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Client engagement: Participate in client meetings, workshops, and executive briefings to help articulate the value of security services and their alignment with business goals.
  • Collaboration with the corresponding Product Owners when working on proposals, RFP's or complex bids.
  • Market Awareness: Stay updated on emerging security trends, technologies, and industry standards to ensure that the organization remains competitive and offers innovative solutions.

  • You are passionate about IT security and technology and have a few years of professional experience in the field.
  • You have proven experience in a presales or technical sales role within the cybersecurity space.
  • You have a strong background in computer science, computer engineering, or IT security (a degree is an asset). Advanced certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CEH, etc. are a plus).
  • You have in-depth technical knowledge and a deep understanding of security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, encryption, security monitoring, cloud security, IAM, and secure network design.
  • Experience with threat detection platforms such as SIEM technologies (Splunk, Sentinel, Elastic Stack, etc) and/or XDR technologies (Microsoft Defender XDR, Palo Alto Cortex XDR, etc.).
  • Experience with SOAR platforms, like Palo Alto XSOAR.
  • Customer focused: you have the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communication skills: you have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
