Job Description: As an HGV Mechanic at Bob Lanigan & Son Ltd, you will play a key role in servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles, trucks, and commercial fleets to the highest standards. Working within a busy, family-run workshop, you will ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and fully compliant with roadworthiness and CVRT requirements. This role involves diagnostics, fault-finding, and carrying out mechanical repairs with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and keeping our customers’ vehicles on the road. Employer: Bob Lanigan & Son Ltd Minimum Annual Remuneration & Benefits: €37,544 per year (based on experience) This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 2 years with a possibility of extension 20 days annual leave Location of Employment: Main Street, Gowran, Kilkenny R95 REP4 Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday: 9am to 6pm (15min break, 1 hour for lunch) Key Responsibilities: HGV servicing :Carry out routine servicing on trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles to manufacturer standards. Mechanical repairs: Diagnose faults and complete mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs. Diagnostics work :Use diagnostic tools (including TEXA systems) to identify and resolve issues efficiently. CVRT preparation: Perform pre-test inspections and ensure vehicles meet CVRT roadworthiness requirements. Preventative maintenance: Conduct checks to prevent breakdowns and keep fleet vehicles operating reliably. Breakdown support :Assist with on-site or roadside repairs when required. Record keeping :Maintain accurate service, repair, and inspection documentation. Workshop safety: Follow all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Customer communication Required Skills & Qualifications: Qualified HGV mechanic: Relevant heavy vehicle mechanic qualification or strong equivalent experience Mechanical & diagnostic skills :Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs on engines, brakes, hydraulics, and electrics. CVRT knowledge :Understanding of commercial vehicle roadworthiness and pre test standards. Attention to detail: Ensuring all work meets safety and compliance requirements. Jouw rol
Als leerkracht fietshersteller begeleid je volwassenen die zich willen bijscholen in fietstechniek. Je combineert praktijk en theorie en creëert een leeromgeving waarin cursisten vooral leren door te doen. Je helpt hen groeien in technische vaardigheden én zelfvertrouwen.
Wat ga je doen?
Je geeft les binnen verschillende onderdelen van de opleiding Fietshersteller:
Opbouwen en afstellen van fietsen
Je leert cursisten hoe ze fietsen correct opbouwen en afstellen: van frame- en wielmontage tot het afregelen van remmen en versnellingen. Veiligheid, nauwkeurigheid en technisch inzicht staan centraal.
Diagnose en herstelling van fietsen
Je begeleidt cursisten in het opsporen en oplossen van technische problemen. Ze leren defecten analyseren, onderdelen vervangen en werken aan zowel klassieke als elektrische fietsen.
Onderhoud van fietsen
Je leert cursisten hoe ze preventief onderhoud uitvoeren, waaronder reinigen, smeren, controleren en vervangen van slijtageonderdelen. Zo leren ze fietsen in optimale conditie houden.
Wie zoeken we?
- Je hebt ervaring in fietstechniek of fietsherstelling.
- Je deelt graag je kennis en werkt graag met volwassenen.
- Ervaring in onderwijs is mooi meegenomen, maar geen vereiste.
- Je bent praktisch ingesteld, geduldig en communicatief sterk.
Praktisch
- Avondlessen op maandag, dinsdag en/of donderdagavond (in overleg te bepalen).
- Opdrachtvolume bespreekbaar.
- Leslocatie: Lier.
